Yaoi Released in 2017

This article lists the Bara, Shounen-ai and Yaoi materials that were released in 2017. The Japanese manga, Korean manhwa, Chinese manhua, to anime seasons, movies, then novels and games including visual novels are listed by the month the first entry was released. Materials that were first scheduled for this year, but postponed and released at a later date is also documented in the 'Scheduled for' section.

2017 Series[]

There were few anime releases, for an April Fools' event there was the BOY's LOVE Nitro+CHiRAL anime which featured various characters from the Nitro+Chiral made games. A particualrly notable anime that arose from July of this year is Hitorijime My Hero which adapts the manga that commenced in May 2011. The Hitorijime My Hero series itself was a spin-off story from the Hitorijime Boyfriend which began in November 2010. Another major release was the ONA in October, that of Hyperventilation, an anime that would lead to a web novel release in 2020.

After the Omae no Mae de Naku Mon ka manga began in November 2016, this year also in November would see a drama CD released for the series one month after the manga was completed.

For manga the Fudanshi-kun no Citrus Days in January came with an included one-shot story titled Harami Danshi x Shokushu no Shitto. The Fudanshi-kun story itself was a sequel to Fudanshi-kun no Honey Days which began in 2012. There would be a third entry to the series overall when Fudanshi-kun tachi no Bitter Sweet Days was released in 2020. When A Coward Falls In Love was released in February 2017 and completed within the year, there would be the sequel Ore no Kirai na Senpai in March 2018. Where Kurui Naku no wa Boku no Ban was released in December 2015, the sequel Kurui Naku no wa Boku no Ban ;β would be released in February 2017. After Cupid ni Rakurai commenced in February 2017 there would be a sequel Cupid ni Rakurai: Tsuigeki starting in February 2019. Once Please Swear to Protect Me began in February 2017 and was completed it would be followed up by the sequel Please Swear to Protect Me More! in April 2018. With Ookami-kun wa Kowakunai startig in December of this year, it would have both a spin-off named Thoroughbred wa Nabikanai in November 2018 plus a sequel Ookami-kun wa Hanasanai in January 2020. When Zenin Kiritsu! Shiritsu BL Gakuen Koutou Gakkou began in December 2017 the sequel Zenin Kiritsu! Shiritsu BL Gakuen Koutou Gakkou: Tachibana x Mizuki-hen would commence on August 2019. After Akuma to Keiyaku began in April 2015, the sequel Akuma to Keiyaku: Kare no Ijiwaru na Aishikata would be released May 2017.

Spin-off series would be released, namely Otona ni Nattara Zenbu Kudasai in March after Uzukumari Hermit began in March 2013. After Shousetsuka no Shitsukekata was released in July 2015, Shousetsuka no Oborekata would continue the story in March 2017. When Kimi wa Boku no Ohimesama was released in March 2016, concurrent story events would be explored in the spin-off Ouji-sama, Dochirasama? in July 2017. After Akaiito no Shikkou Yuuyo began in November 2015, this year in December the Kanawanu Koi no Musubikata spin-off story would be released, which had a sequel Tsunaida Koi no Kanaekata in 2019.

Manga saw the release of Nindan: Danshikou de Ninshin shita Ore. in February which reached thirty five chapters across five volumes. A drama CD for the series was released in the next year, August, 2018. An omegaverse series Sutenaide My Hero had thirteen chapters across two volumes released. After the Theo manga began in April 2017, a drama CD would be released in December 2018. When Netsuai nante Ariemasen! was released in December 2017 the sequel Dekiai nante Mitomemasen! would begin in April 2019.

There were manga anthologies released such as Boys on Ice: Figure Danshi Anthology in April.

The comedy Spend Wisely released in February included the one-shot story Magical Banana. The Spend Wisely would have a spin-off named Gohoubi wa Shitsuke no Ato in April 2019. While Rumspringa no Joukei would be released February of this year, there would be a spin-off Dear Gene released in August 2019.

For anthology series, 2017 saw an entry released featuring various series from prior years. When Nemuri Otoko to Koi Otoko began in July 2013, a different series Caste Heaven commenced in March 2014. The Lala no Kekkon story was released in February 2017, where an again separate one-shot Oath of Allegiance became available in April, 2017. These different manga series released over years would all gain something in common when chapters were gathered in the Mesuochi BL which was featuring an anthology of short stories created by various mangaka.

For manhwa a notable series that began in July was My Darling Signed In.

For another there was a sequel to Super Lovers from April 2016, namely Super Lovers 2 which continues to adapt the manga from October 2009. In this case there was additional anime from one series released later in the year, in the form of two OVAs. The first OVA was released in January along with the manga's tenth volume. In September 2017 the second OVA was available with the eleventh volume.
