The New Recruit is a web novel written by Moscareto and illustrated by Zec. It has been adapted into completed manhwa with The New Employee as its title and has forty chapters and is also written by Moscareto and Zec. Illustrations were also done by Zec. First released in 2020, it has been published by Ridibooks.
A live action adaptation of the manhwa aired in 2022. It features Kwon Hyuk, Moon Ji-Yong and Choi Si-Hun as the main characters. The drama will be released through Watcha, the same producers which produced the popular BL drama "Semantic error".

Soon to begin an internship at AR Planning, Seunhyun discusses this and other topics with his friend, Jiyeon who he met at university. Studying business there, Seunhyun joined the LGBT club half out of curiosity and half because he felt something about himself. Considering Yusung his first love, he was why Seunhyun went to grad school even though he originally had no intention of going. Feeling he was 28[1] when he came to his senses, Seunhyun reflects how his friends from university had already settled into good jobs and gotten married. Feeling in contrast that he was 28, gay, unemployed, still paying off student loans, and had never been in a relationship, Seunhyun nevertheless does not regret the time he spent following Yusung around. Keen to begin at his new job, at recognizing who Kim is, Seunhyun introduces himself.
Kim Jongchan[]
Described as a workaholic section chief, Kim is said to be unmatched in the business world for his skills. His hobbies are watching movies, and Kim's special skill is that he is fast at mental math. Needing someone who can handle the practical work and fast, Kim does not care if someone is pulled from another team or if someone new is hired. His recent interest is the new intern in his team who seems to be like a puppy and a baby chick.
Jiyeon Seo[]
Speaking with Seunhyun, she details her concerns about her workload she is expected to do by others. Fiery at being asked to create a catchphrase, Jiyeon is frustrated at the vague directions she is given by others. Where Jiyeon realized she liked girls at an early age, she joined her university's LGBT club and met a new friend in Seunhyun there. Aware of Kim, she describes him as famous, competent, but as a workaholic and so people hate dealing with him. Thanked by Seunhyun for informing him about the position and told he will buy her dinner, Jiyeon replies she would rather take candy from a baby and asks how can she let an intern buy her dinner.

Story[]
Seunhyun calls Jiyeon on the phone to share how the interview seemed a formality and he got the job right away. Although it may just be an internship, Seunhyun feels he does not have a lot of options at this point. It is AR Planning though, where only the best get in. Thanking Jiyeon for telling him about the opening, Seunhyun then considers how he will start at the company soon.
Within a cafe, Seunhyun is asked by Jiyeon if he thinks she can sue someone for abuse of power. After Jiyeon states she has not dealt with such a level of obnoxiousness in so long, Seunhyun asks is a client giving her trouble. Explaining that she is being given work at 5:30 on a Friday where the original is used despite her doing the edits asked of her, Jiyeon is frustrated at the vague directions she is given.
Considering how Jiyeon is his friend from university, Seunhyun recalls how they met in the LGBT club. Recollecting why he joined the club, Seunhyun thinks specifically it was because of Yusung. Where he was felt to be his first love, Seunhyun followed him to graduate school. For years, Seunhyun used Yusung as an excuse to live soullessly, preoccupied only with his studies and the demands of his professors. As other friends found good jobs and became married, Seunhyun is critical on himself as he feels he is unemployed, still paying off student loans, and has never been in a relationship.
Not regretting the time spent following Yusung around, Seunhyun now contemplates how his life is depressing. Time is racing by and he has neither a dream nor purpose. Confirming with Jiyeon that he is in planning team 1 within the ad planning department, Seunhyun hears he will be under Mr. Kim. After Seunhyun questions what is wrong, Jiyeon answers Kim is famous, competent, and good-looking but is a workaholic where people hate dealing with him.
While they are a subsidiary of a major corporation, where the pay and benefits are all right, Jiyeon mentions how the ad planning agencies are tough so there will be a ton of work for Seunhyun even though he is just an intern. Detailing how Kim is great at what he does, Jiyeon feels he could probably become a board member if he changed departments, but he is sticking it out where he is since he likes advertising.
Asked by Jiyeon how long his internship is, Seunhyun replies it is through December but he thinks he will apply to the open recruitment while there. Parting ways with Jiyeon who politely declines his offer of dinner for recommending the position, Seunhyun thinks to work hard at his new job.
At the company, Seunhyun finds he requires an employee card to access a room. Anxious at potentially being late, Seunhyun then notices Kim approaching who is on the phone discussing an intern. Entering the room after him, Seunhyun hears Kim speak on the phone how his department brings in the majority of this company's earnings. Picking up who he is, Seunhyun introduces himself to Kim.[2]
