Characters[]
Yan Zi Xi[]
Since a car accident, Xi cannot see the faces of his loved ones anymore. When seeing A'bai for the first time, he could see his handsome, white face. Rising to his feet in class while thinking he is the one, Xi regarded him as pushing through the heavy fog as a shining angel. Finding he could not speak to A'bai today, Xi feels if only he could be a little braver. Wondering if he really can get close to him, Xi thinks it is bad thinking he may have made him angry. Answering there is no problem, Xi then has the idea to offer A'bai a tour of the campus since he is new. Feeling sick at being asked to stop staring, Xi thinks A'bai hates him. As for why he was staring, he cannot tell him. Back in high school, Xi experienced vision loss after a motorcycle accident. Panicking at recognizing people's voices, but finding they appeared literally physically different, Xi told them to not come near him. Later, Xi was diagnosed with facial recognition deficiency[1]. While he speaks to others, and tries to strike up conversation with A'bai after passing him in the corridor, Xi is not especially talkative after that. Ticking the box to agree to attend the camping trip, Xi hopes everything goes well. On the day, Xi is struck at finding he is the only one who has not changed into the uniform. Judging this situation worse than he expected, Xi's uneasiness returns.
Xia Bai Cang[]
Called A'bai, having transferred from a university's art department, he thinks what the hell is Xi doing upon seeing him stand. Stating that people would get to know him, A'bai thinks this class seems really nice. Agreeing to go to karaoke, A'bai then considers how he knows someone has been watching him. Agitated, A'bai shouts how Xi keeps staring at him then asks if there is a problem. Considering how Xi acts, A'bai feels maybe he is being cruel himself, then decides that in fact Xi is the one with a problem. Learning of an upcoming camping trip, A'bai says he will change shifts with his senior so he can attend. Paying attention to Xi nearby, A'bai finds it strange how he is not looking this way, before concluding it would be better if he did not stare. Announcing that he is not going to the next class, A'bai elects to stay having felt guilt at how Xi is currently behaving. Noting that Xi has friends and talks to them, A'bai wonders why he continues to look at him. After Xi says hi, A'bai contemplates how everyone says there are many weirdos in college, then thinks it is true and now he is overly conscious of them.
A'bai's Friend[]
Asking A'bai if he still has classes after the one they are in, he mentions they are going to karaoke, so he should come with them. Discussing the camping trip together, he then addresses whether A'bai hates Xi when he declines to come to the next class with them.
Chen[]
In a lecture he is teaching, Professor Chen mentions how they are only beginning the third week of school, so why are some of them are skipping class already. Meaning to take a register, Chen requests for a student in the back to please close the door. Ordering a student to put a phone away now, Chen then directed A'bai to come and introduce himself to the class.
Xi's Friend[]
Handing Xi a helmet, he told him he would see where they were going when they got there. While driving a motorcycle, an accident occurred.
Xi's Mother[]
Calling her son's name in hospital, she was relieved when he woke up. Telling him it was normal that his vision would be blurred since he had been unconscious for three days, she then went to call the nurse.
Class President[]
He informs Xi he is the only one who has not filled the form in yet.
Story[]
Considering whether to believe there are angels in the world, since the car accident years ago, Yan Zi Xi is unable to make out faces, but does pay mind to when he was transferred to his class. In awe of Xia Bai Cang, and seeing him as an angel, Xi then considers how they all fly up in the sky. When A'bai is angered at Xi for staring at him, concerned he has made him angry, Xi only wants to express his love to him.[2] In class, A'bai is invited to karaoke by a classmate. Since the day of his transfer, A'bai feels he has been watched.
A few weeks ago, Professor Chen took the class roll. Students were friendly with A'bai and they arranged plans together. Considering how had been staring at him, A'bai heads back to find alone and demands to know why Xi has been staring at him.[3] While Xi states there is no problem, his offer of a tour of the campus is declined. Unable to explain his staring, three years ago Xi was with his friend where they were both heavily injured in a motorcycle accident. Waking in hospital with his mom there, Xi found his vision was blurred, where this was said to be normal as he had been unconscious for three days.
Presently, while Xi answers a message on his phone, in class details of a camping trip come up for next month. Mentioned that it is an important event for the freshmen, the seniors really want them to go together. Rather than head to the next class, A'bai has noticed that Xi feels gloomy and considers whether he is responsible for that.[4] Over the next few days, Xi and A'bai pass one another on occasion, including on the subway where they take the same one. On one occasion, as A'bai passes with headphones in, Xi says hi to him only to seemingly be ignored. Removing them and speaking, A'bai questions what is wrong. After the brief interaction, A'bai contemplates how Xi will talk to others. In class, the class president hands Xi the camping form, which he agrees to attend.
On the day of the camping trip, Xi sees from everyone gathered that he is the only one who has not changed into the uniform.[5]
