Shutline is an ongoing manhwa written and illustrated by KYOU. First released in 2021, it has been published officially in English, Korean, and Japanese by Lezhin. In 2023, it was given a physical copy with three volumes, released by DO7 Entertainment. An anime adaptation was released by DO7 Entertainment with thirteen episodes.

Synopsis[]

Shin is scraping by, surviving as a rogue mechanic on the harsh city streets. Work is scarce, pay is low, and life is a constant grind—until Jake rolls up with car trouble. Tall, blond, and dripping with money, Jake is a walking jackpot, and Shin sees an opportunity he can’t pass up.

Moon "Shin" Shingun[]

Moon Shin-gun (문신건), "Shin" for short, is a 30-year-old car mechanic who works at Lump Spark garage. His birthday is August 5th, making him a Leo. Shin was born in South Korea, and moved to Detroit, Michigan at a very young age. He stayed in Detroit until his early 20's, when he moved to New York for better work. He is friendly, but cautious, when speaking to others. He stands at 180cm (6'0"), though he looks to be closer to 6'1". As a child, Shin was adopted into a family lead by a drug-addicted, low-life pair that had been adopting children for government support money. Split away from his family at roughly ten years old, Shin was moved to a separate foster family. Shin's favorite things are money, food and cars, and his least favorite things are people telling him what to do, gangsters, and drugs. His personality type is ESTP.

Jake "Jay" Gillan[]

Also referred to as 'Jay', he is a member of a notorious gang called the "Mercifuls", but he actually works as a secret agent for CIA. To most, Jay is regarded as a rich, shady businessman. To the Mercifuls, he is a high-ranking member with a wide range of connections to different gangs. Jay likes both men and women. He gives off a very placid vibe, only really showing how he truly is around Shin and a select few others. 32, his birthday is November 19th, making him a Scorpio. His height is 190cm (6'3"). He meets Shin when receiving assistance with his seemingly old, broken-down car. From the start, his intentions with Shin were purely lust based, only turning more romantic later into the comic.

Ross Trautvein[]

The deputy manager of popular casino, Royal Roader. He is 33, and 188cm (6'2"). A descendent of a politician family, Ross is generally posed as a filthy-rich bad boy, commonly attending and hosting decadent parties. Despite always having a smile on his face, he has a tendency to look down on people and can be very quick to anger when it comes to sensitive topics. His first appearance is in chapter 23, in which he's seen praising Lump Spark's work on his car.

A car mechanic speaks to Jake in his car and sets about repairing it. After speaking at length, the vehicle is in order and Jake hands a mobile over. [1] By night fall at the 'five Bar' the mechanic navigates his way past an evidently inebriated patron. Speaking to the barkeep the mechanic then receives a call. Jake joins him and outside they begin kissing passionately. The mechanic then notices a gun and bloodied shirt inside Jake's car. With his hands up the mechanic is placed on the bonnet of the car.
