Zachary[]
A junior in university and 22, Zachary appears alarmed at messages in a group chat saying they want to kill an unstated her. Thinking it might just be some jokes among high school girls, Zachary also considers maybe it is rephrasing a quote from the comic. In any case, Zachary promptly adds the account as a friend. Hearing the statements, Zachary feels like the HARE account is most likely a man. Understanding their murderous point of view, Zachary also has a person that he hates so much and even wants him dead. It is his mom's former colleague, and where he was twelve, Zachary could not so anything to prevent her being harassed by him. Where money had to be sent to stop him sending photos of his mom to her current husband, Zachary always thinks about how the world would be a better place if he were dead. Confirming he wants to kill the man who harassed his mother, Zachary adds he even dreams about it. Pleased to hear that HARE will kill him, Zachary replies to not mess with him like that, they do not even know each other. Seeing exchange murders described, Zachary questions is this not sketchy after one conversation. Asking why he should trust them, Zachary gives thought to what happens if he backs out after HARE does it, or what if he fails and gets caught. No matter how he looks at it, Zachary feels HARE has the most to lose yet will decide on his course of action, if any, when the part is done. Sharing his user name of Leafy, he then notes a week later the man disappeared. With his mom Zachary comments she seems in a good mood today. Considering the message while wrapped in his bed sheet, Zachary trembles and sweats as he has been tasked with murdering Jenna for HARE. Throwing his phone, Zachary continues to tremble in silence. During Summer break, Zachary had time to follow Jenna. While thinking does he really have to kill her, Zachary then feels the question should be does he have what it takes. Contemplating a fake car accident, poison, or hiring an assassin, Zachary also wonders about doing it when she is drunk. Following her into a club, Zachary sees Jenna is intoxicated and he might not even need the pills he has on his person. Having prepared all the tools and flooring in an old warehouse one kilometer away, Zachary wills himself to just be calm and rational so there should not be a problem. Returning to his mom and her new partner, Zachary thinks the former would be shocked at his plan. For himself, Zachary acknowledges he would be locked up in prison then executed. Thinking why he has to take the risk, Zachary then asks himself why is he so stupid. In registering how killing someone is a horrifying thing to do, Zachary does not really believe HARE has the guts to do that. Surprised at a video being sent all of a sudden, Zachary appears deeply troubled at a recording of the man being murdered with an axe.

HARE account
Contrary to the explicit wish to kill, the HARE account is friendly when speaking with Zachary online. Confirming they really do want to kill their dad's mistress, the account mentions she always beats their mom when they are not around. The person behind the account has seen bruises around their mother's back and right arm. Even if they told their dad, HARE feels he would not trust them. Wanting to chop the mistress to bits, HARE asks whether Zachary understands how they feel. Questioning whether Zachary wants to kill, HARE states they will do it for him. Wondering if Zachary has heard of exchange murdering, HARE explains it then details how if they kill his target for them, the only thing to worry about is not leaving any DNA behind. Even if Zachary became a suspect, HARE continues that since he did not kill the person, the police would not have any evidence on him, plus they would not be able to find them. Judging it even better that they do not know one another, HARE mentions the more they mix in with each other, the more suspicious it is. When Zachary mentions trust, HARE suggests how about they kill his target first, and when it is done, he can take action. Requesting the target's info, HARE also asks for Zachary's number. HARE messages Zachary to share it is done and now it is his turn. A next message states it has been two weeks and why has Zachary not done anything. With proof raised, after a pause HARE sends a video of the man dying from axe inflicted wounds. When there is no response, HARE questions if Zachary knows what will happen to someone who goes back on their word, by mentioning he has already killed one, may as well kill another. Asking if he forget to tell him, HARE shares that he has been watching Zachary for about ten minutes now.
Zachary's Mom[]
After his mom's divorce, she was stalked and harassed by her former colleague. A couple of years ago she got remarried, she was threatened by the man harassing her to give money or photos of her would be sent to her current husband. She reportedly gave the money as she would rather die than risk letting anyone know. Sat with her son, she says for Zachary to eat more. With it commented that she seems in a good mood, she feels it is probably because there is not much that she needs to worry about today.
Jenna[]
The target that HARE tasks Zachary with killing. At 25 her occupation is listed as a singer. She is reportedly the mistress of HARE's father, the woman who abused their mother. Seen walking alone and frequented a club by herself as well, Jenna was noted to look sorrowful onstage. Jenna was friendly with a young girl she was acquainted with.

Hanna[]
A part of the Chinese language department and a university student, Hanna becomes Zachary's girlfriend. Wanting to drink the milk tea from where Zachary is queuing, Hanna states it is Internet famous. With the sun being too bright, Hanna announces she will wait for Zachary at the entrance of the theatre.
Story[]
Within an apartment, Zachary reads messages from an account saying they want to kill someone. Adding the HARE account as a friend, by 23:17 they exchange greetings. While HARE wants to kill their father's mistress for assaulting their mother, Zachary also has someone he would want dead. Detailing his mom's abusive colleague, Zachary states they gave him five grand to stop him sending photos to her current husband. After Zachary writes he wants the man who harassed his mother dead, HARE replies they will do it for him. Raising the topic of exchange murdering, HARE explains it as two parties killing the the person that the other party loathes. That way the police will not be able to find the motives of the murders, so it will more likely they will get away with it. Giving thought to what if HARE fails, Zachary agrees that they can kill his target first. When it comes to providing details on the target and exchanging numbers, Zachary feels this is how it begins. It is like a thin spider web that lures people to climb up and explore, but at the same time they have no idea what is waiting for them on the other side. It is actually a bottomless pit.[1]
A week later, the man who was harassing Zachary's mom disappeared. With his mom, Zachary remarks that she looks to be in a good mood. Receiving a text, it is 11:33 when HARE messages that it is Zachary's turn. Seeing that Jenna is the target, Zachary had taken to following her during the Summer break. Thinking of methods, Zachary presently keeps an eye on Jenna in a club and notes she is drunk. Having pills on him, all Zachary thinks he needs to do it walk over and pretend to be Jenna's friend, then take her away to a warehouse one kilometer away with everything prepared. Nearing Jenna, his phone rings, which Zachary sees is a call from his mom. With the time being 22:32, Zachary's mom is with her partner where they have prepared food for him. Answering that he was heading back, Zachary leaves Jenna.[2]
At his mom's house, Zachary gives further thought to the repercussions of himself going through with the murder. The most deterring thought is that HARE has not murdered the man, who Zachary considers has just disappeared as he is hiding from loan sharks. At a coffee shop, since he has not heard anything about the man being murdered, Zachary guesses he was probably right, and that guy wanted to trick him into helping him to murder someone. When HARE messages that it has been two weeks and asks why Zachary has not done anything, it is mentioned the man has only disappeared with no indication that he is dead. A video from HARE shows a recording of a man being murdered with an axe.
Reacting strongly to the recording, Zachary considers how the person that is wearing a raincoat in the recording is HARE. If that is what killing a person looks like, then Zachary thinks he absolutely cannot do it. Processing that HARE does not know where he is, or know what he looks like, Zachary feels he cannot do anything if he does not fulfil the promise. HARE implies he would kill Zachary if he went back on his promise. It is also shared that HARE has been watching Zachary for about ten minutes now.[3]
