Nuan Yang, meaning Warm Sun, is a web novel by Wu Zhe that has been published by jjwxc. Released in 2016, the novel is complete at one hundred and forty-five chapters with an extra featuring five chapters. The novel has been adapted into a manhua written by Wu Zhe and Zuoer Cong Dong with art by Xi Yao. Released in 2021, it has been published by Kuaikan Manhua.
A Donghua (Chinese animation) under the name Nuan Yang has been announced, which is by studio Colored Pencil Animation. Production is by Tencent Penguin Pictures.

Sent to a "hometown" far away Cheng felt he had no family. Asked if he had skipped class again, Cheng heard his parents question why he was a part of their family, words that he was impacted by. If they hated him so much then Cheng stated then maybe they should not have given birth to him. Shocked at learning he was adopted, Cheng moved cities. In helping Miao from kids were were attacking her, Cheng would meet her brother Fei. First seeing Fei he observed what he regarded as his pretty long legs yet declined his offer of a ride to his destination. Making his way to his biological father Baoguo he slapped his hand away after a negative reaction to his gambling and drinking. Within his room Cheng guesses he should be thankful there is a window, where he sees Fei and Miao outside. Without speaking to them, Cheng finds he has caught a cold. After falling unconscious Cheng thanks Fei for helping him but promptly leaves. Entering a restaurant he came across, Cheng comes across Fei and Miao there and eats with them. Consistently needing to make his own way, Cheng states he will take a taxi back. Handed some tissues after being sick, Cheng orders Fei to go away and he is further agitated at feeling ill. Meeting his friend Zhi he helps carry his bag, and at a basketball Cheng says what a coincidence it is to find Fei there.

Gu Fei[]
His hair is styled where on his right is the shape of a Crotchet Rest trimmed there, and on the left is a Bass Clef music note, both on five musical lines. Picking up his little sister Miao on a motorbike, Fei asked Cheng where he was headed, he will take him. Fei had knitted a green hat for Miao. After helping Cheng inside after he fell unconscious, Fei has Yan leave the room before considering Cheng to be really handsome. Stating that Cheng was pretty photogenic, Fei questioned what he called that vibe. If Fei wants to know whether someone is pretty good he looks at them, not the people around them. Although talented at basketball he is only persuaded to join the team when Jiang is placed on it.

Gu Miao[]
Fei's younger sister, 11, she enjoys skateboarding, drawing, BBQ's, meat pies and kitties. After being helped by Cheng she followed him, and shook her head to deny she was scared they would come back for her. Looking to a sign, Miao nodded when asked if she was lost and could not get back. Handed Cheng's phone and told to call her family Miao added the number before presenting the phone back to Cheng for him to speak. Miao uses a stick to write 'brother', and then her name in the snow. Skating down a stairway Miao is proud to show off her perfect landing. Non-verbally, Miao motions to ask Fei whether there is something wrong. She chose the color green for her bobble hat. At noticing Cheng unconscious outside she brought Fei to retrieve him. She panicked when the sink overflowed and hugging her brother communicated if they could get something to eat. Finding Cheng at the restaurant Miao stares at Fei until he asks him to sit with them. There is a large visible scar on the crown of her head from when she was pushed into the side of a cupboard by her father.
Cheng's Father[]
Specifically Cheng's step-father who was hospitalized for pneumonia. With Cheng visiting him as the hospital he asked why did they have to have someone like him in the family.
Cheng's Mother[]
His mother sat beside his father who was in a hospital bed. Asking what Cheng was doing here she spoke that it was only eleven. Angered that he skipped class again she questioned will he never change. After handing her husband a drink she took Cheng outside the room. All these years she never knew how to handle him and she proceeded to reveal that Cheng was an adopted child. Cheng's mother stated for him to go back to a town, that was his real home anyway. Calling him she asked whether he arrived fine. His new location is not as nice as it is back home so he may need some time to adjust. She questions whether Cheng is seriously blaming her for his father's hospitalization.
Li Baoguo[]
As Cheng's birth father Baoguo is pleased to meet his son after all these years. Explaining that he ran into an old friend who would not stop talking Baoguo adds that Cheng is taller than in his photos. Adding that he is a little skinny Baoguo comments that young people should work out more, and light-heatedly comments that he is counting on him to wait on him when he is old. Merrily welcoming him inside his apartment Baoguo remarks it is not nearly as nice as Cheng's old place for sure. After his hand is slapped away Baoguo was told not to touch Cheng so he retorted whether that is how a spoiled brat speaks to his elders. Mentioning that he never spoilt Cheng's brother and sister, Baoguo continues that if Cheng had grew up here he would have beaten some respect into him ages ago. Remarking whatever, Baoguo claimed he was on a winning streak today so will play another two gambling rounds. Seeing that Cheng is up, Baoguo shares he was really lucky yesterday. He won a lot in one night and figures it must be Cheng who brought him all the luck. Asking if he has eaten, Baoguo shares how when Cheng goes out there are a lot of street vendors, he will go back to sleep so Cheng should not bother him. With Cheng returning Baoguo says he just called him and has been waiting half the day. Concerned at Cheng feeling ill Baoguo checks if he has a fever and feels the water may be unacceptable. Stating that the clinic would be cheaper than hospital Baoguo also heard Cheng knew Fei and warned not to mess with him. Baoguo says Fei killed his father by drowning him. While no one saw this Baoguo is sure of it.
Pan Zhi[]
Calling Cheng to ask if he is okay Zhi also enquires about the wellbeing of his father. Questioning why Cheng did not tell him he was going to leave, Zhi notes he did not hesitate. Asking whether he should come and visit Zhi says for Cheng to not be stubborn. Directing Cheng to stay calm Zhi says to wait for him. Arriving in town Zhi knew Cheng overslept and adds if he had not have called him Cheng would have forgotten he would come today. Enthusiastically pouncing on Cheng and speaking how he came all this way Zhi states should he not be moved. Meaning to stay for two days Zhi will head back after since school is about to start. Annoyed by classes, exams and homework papers Zhi says he wants to be like Cheng where he does not have to learn anything hard. Zhi has figured out why he misses Cheng so much, as soon as he left no one would show him the answers to exams. Telling Yan that he is a new student at school Zhi comments to Cheng that Fei is a good basketball player. With Cheng not returning home Zhi says fine he will visit again and bring his friends too. Having a gift he brought, Zhi hands Cheng an Irish flute. Bidding Cheng goodbye and addressing him as grandpa, before boarding his train Zhi returns and embraces him.
Li Yan[]
At Fei's store Yan is told to collect money, and mentions she has not seen Cheng before. Handing Cheng his change she asks whether he is rich based on the water he bought. At learning Cheng is the one who helped Miao she considers him and how he is pretty handsome. Accompanying Fei to a basketball game Yan takes a seat beside Cheng and also meets Zhi there. Asked if they attend this school Yan answers do they look like students. Cheering for Fei after he scores, Yan also questions whether Cheng is on the basketball team. Hearing that Fei is heading back to the store Yan raises is his mother not there today. With Fei taking Miao to a medical checkup Yan tells him to be careful on the road.

Xu Qicai[]
Announcing his surname as Xu, and his name Qicai he states to Cheng that he is his future class teacher. Sharing that he teaches Cheng's classmates in the Chinese class Qicai says he can call him Xu Zong. Their class is on the third floor and Qicai will take Cheng there now. Having taken a look at Cheng's previous transcript Qicai feels his grades are very good. With Cheng's science being better than literature Qicai asks why he chose literature. Calling to Fei he remarks he is late again, morning reading class is over. Silent as class members comment on Cheng, when a fight breaks out Qicai shouts what are they doing, the bell has already rung.

Hou Zi[]
Along with two accomplices he is confrontational towards Lin upon finding him in an alleyway. Seeing Cheng and Fei coming Zi states if they want to live in peace they should obediently let him beat them. The knuckle dusters in his hand are knocked away from Fei and Zi was promptly kneed by Cheng.

Hui is seated at the table when Baoguo introduces him as Cheng's older brother. Beside his wife Hui together they have two sons, Cheng's nephews.
Hui's Wife[]
Having an unfriendly expression on her face when Baoguo introduces Cheng she remarks that the kid has been raised by others and is not his son. Told to shut up by Baoguo and questioned since when did this household give a woman a turn to speak she answers him what is wrong with a woman. Without her as a woman where would Baoguo get himself two grandsons.
Li Qing[]
She is at the dinner table when Baoguo says Qing is Cheng's older sister. With her husband, Qing has a daughter, Cheng's niece.
Xin[]
Fei and Miao's sister, Xin is eating with them in the store when Cheng enters. While dressing Cheng's injury on his hand Xin explains she is not biologically related to Fei. She used to live in the apartment above his family's and watched him grow up. When Fei joins them to asks if Cheng has eaten Xin states that is perfect before suggesting they eat together.

Fei thanks Cheng for helping his sister Miao
Jiang Cheng has arrived at a new town after learning he was adopted. After coming across Gu Miao he met her brother Gu Fei. They spend time together cycling, Cheng listened to Fei perform guitar on stage and they observed the sky at night.[1] Fei takes photos of Cheng who feels he looks world-weary. After a train approaches the station Cheng notes the time is 17:13 and the person who is supposed to pick him up has not messaged him. Miao was being assaulted by other children who called her a 'dumb hobo'. After intervening, Cheng checked to see that the bus stop was just three streets away before finding Miao following him. With Fei contacted over the phone Cheng answered they were at the train station, East gate. After Fei arrived he offered to transport Cheng to where he was headed[2] however Cheng makes his own way.
Now living with his father Cheng observes outside
Arriving at an apartment Cheng finds his birth father, Li Baoguo who he does not take well to. Cheng remembers meeting his parents in hospital and learning he was adopted. Outside his current apartment window Cheng can see Miao skateboarding with Fei monitoring.[3] Cheng has caught a cold yet since the apartment does not have a heater he waits for a bucket of water to boil using an immersion heater rod for a bath. Cheng speaks of his upset to Pan Zhi over the phone who speaks he is coming over. By morning Cheng sees Baoguo who is heading to sleep. Outside, Cheng hears from street vendors including Liu Liang's Baozi, and Orlean's roast chicken which is available for only 20 Yuan.
Finding that it is Fei's store
Within a convenience store Cheng is found by Fei and learns it is his store.[4] The four other men who are present are directed to go somewhere else. Li Yan at the counter speaks with Cheng before he leaves. Outside Cheng is overcome with dizziness before collapsing. Miao notices and bring Fei to him who asks the others to help him in.[5] Having been taken inside Cheng has a fever and Yan hears he is the one who helped Miao yesterday. After Yan is removed from the room Fei learns Cheng's name from his ID and is there when he awakens.[6] Saying that the main reason he brought Cheng in is because he did not want to get in trouble Fei then tells him to go and wash. After Cheng leaves instead, Fei hears Miao reacting to the water in the sink overflowing. With them both hungry Fei takes her out to eat.
Dining together
At a meat grilling restaurant Cheng is joined by Miao and Fei.[7] They eat together yet Cheng does not answer Fei on what his relationship with Baoguo is. Intending to take a taxi home, half an hour later Cheng is still feeling ill since the car was driving too fast. Miao along with Fei are there where the latter hands Cheng some tissues.[8] Resistant to Miao's concern, Cheng also pushes Fei away before being physically sick nearby. Returning home Cheng hears from Baoguo if he does not feel well he should go to the community clinic on the next street. With Cheng mentioning the store nearby is Fei's, Baoguo asks how he knows him. Stating that Fei killed his own father, Baoguo knows this because of Miao, where Cheng remembers the scar on her head. A scenario of Miao being struck by her father shows her bleeding after being knocked into a cupboard.[9]
With Zhi at a basketball game when Fei arrives
By day time Cheng meets Zhi who has come to visit where he is staying for two days before heading back for school. In the stands of a basketball game, the players in the court notice Fei and others arrive.[10] While Fei plays basketball, Cheng with Zhi speak with Yan. After Zei scores Cheng answers Yan he is not on a basketball team before leaving with Zhi.[11] With it 10:59 on the clock Fei leaves and answers Yan he is taking Miao for a medical checkup. Elsewhere, Cheng answers Zhi he will not go back. Zhi departs for his train and says he come will come and visit him again on May 21.
In class together
As Cheng is shown around the school by his teacher Xu Qicai he encounters Fei there.[12] In class other students wonder whether Cheng done something at his old school for him to transfer to a new High School at this time. Having heard Cheng transferred from the city High School he has to question Qicai whether he will say anything to the students. Cheng is seated beside Fei.[13] Fragments of a crumbling ceiling drop on Fei. Checking his phone Cheng sees an image of his parents at a diner. After class students on duty are reminded to clean the walls and taking a mop Cheng confronts the student responsible for the debris.[14] After Qicai shouts, Cheng returns to his seat. With Fei offering him candy he accepts a few.[15]
