Kojika Counter! is a completed manga at five chapters within one volume. It is written and illustrated by Aki Yuukura. First released in 2017, it has been serialized in Kachicomi and published by Akita Shoten. A related series is Karasugaoka Don't Be Shy!! which Kojika Counter! is adapted from.
Synopsis[]
Due to his father's transfer, Setoguchi Hotori is forced to attend an unruly school overrun by Yankees, where he is bullied everyday. Finally, after weeks of bullying Setoguchi realizes that the key to his freedom lies in winning over Kuse, the leader of the group. But how far will Setoguchi go...? (Spin Off of Karasugaoka Don't Be Shy!!)

Setoguchi Hotori[]
In response to being bullied, Setoguchi gives a happy display and belittles himself in the hopes it will appease his tormentors. Using his phone, Setoguchi searches how to avoid being beaten. In thinking how to get the upper hand, it dawns on Setoguchi that having Kuse on his side could work. Not sure if he can take Kuse away from the guy he was with, Setoguchi feels it is the only way. Searching for Kuse while avoiding bullies, Setoguchi immediately requests that he please go out with him. Surprised at Kuse's forwardness, despite his own, Setoguchi thought they would be a cute fluffy couple who enjoyed popsicles on the bench together. For the sake of peace, Setoguchi thinks he can endure it for that. While there are some doubts, Setoguchi is firmly against handing over his money anymore. He also becomes alert enough to know Rei is preparing a trap for him, reasoning that no one likes him enough to invite him to a party. Setoguchi turns up in armor and wielding a baseball bat.
Kuse[]
While with a boy with long hair, Kuse makes eye contact with Setoguchi and asks who he is. Deeming him pretty cute, Kuse later remembers him and enquires if he is the new guy. At once accepting Setoguchi's request to go out with him, Kuse initiates a kiss. Afterwards, Kuse feels since Setoguchi is okay to kiss him like that they can sleep together now. Reminded he already has a lover, Kuse considers Rei as just a friend with benefits. Laughing, Kuse finds it amazing that Setoguchi is completely frozen. No matter how one looks at it, Kuse states that Setoguchi is straight, and a liar. Having a grasp of the situation, Kuse deems Setoguchi sneaky, asking him out so he would not get bullied. Questioning what he intends to do, Kuse does come to Setoguchi's aid when he confronts the bullies.
Kakuda[]
Complaining about the amount of money he stole from Setoguchi, he feels it is acceptable to consider changing his motorcycle's muffler using it. Demanding he bring 500 dollars tomorrow, Kakuda then invades Setoguchi's personal space and questions if he is complaining.
Honjou Rei[]
With Kuse, he asks for them to continue kissing with others around. Observing the announcement that Setoguchi has become Kuse's number 2, Rei does not look too bothered as he walks away. Approaching him in class, Rei asks if Setoguchi is feeling unwell. Introducing himself as from class B, Rei says he is sorry for showing Setoguchi something strange the other day. His kindness a front, Rei prepares a so called welcome party after school, in actuality to teach Setoguchi what happens when he gets in his way.
Fumihito[]
Asked if he was okay by Setoguchi, he replied he was, which was not convincing.
Story[]
A school covered in graffiti is famous for its yankees. Setoguchi Hotori's father being transferred, and his own academic ability are why he attends the school. With little option, Setoguchi hands over money to bullies including Kakuda. After being told to bring five hundred dollars tomorrow, Setoguchi talks at length for them to forgive him that he cannot afford that much. Asked if he is complaining, Setoguchi puts on a happy appearance while stating he does not have the right to complain.
The bullies speak how compared to Kuse they are a lot nicer. Sliding a door, Kuse is there with Rei who is seen as a girl and the bullies say sorry for interrupting him. Asking who Setoguchi is, Kuse says that he is pretty cute before continuing to kiss Rei. At home, Setoguchi is counting coins he has and feels he needs another 380 dollars, and he just borrowed money from his mother.
Using his phone to search how to avoid being beaten, Setoguchi realizes that gaining the upper hand can be done by having Kuse on his side. Where Kuse was doing it with a man, Setoguchi reasons that no one can touch the leader's lover. Wondering whether he can take the mistress position, Setoguchi remembers Kuse called him cute. Feeling this is the only way, it is considered how when people are backed into a corner they are unable to make rational decisions.
At school, Setoguchi hides while looking for Kuse, as the three bullies look for him. Locating him on the rooftop, Setoguchi announces that he fell in love with Kuse at first sight. Asked out by him, Kuse answers okay then proceeds to kiss Setoguchi. When Kuse states Setoguchi should be fine with them sleeping together, he is reminded of his present partner. After Kuse says that Rei is a friend with benefits, Setoguchi thinks to endure it for the sake of peace.
Suddenly laughing, Kuse feels Setoguchi is straight, and catches on he asked him out to avoid being bullied. Feeling he is being made fun of, Setoguchi tells Kuse it is bad to be a guy like him. Listing that he makes fun of the weak, resorts to violence and taking what they want, Setoguchi lumps him and his bully associates together as idiots. Sharing that his friend transferred schools because of bullying, Setoguchi feels they do not care about that. Instead of being remorseful and reflecting on themselves, Setoguchi says Kuse feels he is some kind of hero but is scum.
In response, Kuse questions why Setoguchi is relying on flirting and selling himself to scum like him. Kuse questions Setoguchi if he has ever told the bullies to stop for his and his friend's sake. It is remembered how in asking Fumihito whether he was okay, Setoguchi could never say anything back. Finding it frustrating, when Setoguchi is asked by Kuse does he still want his help he is unable to respond. Addressing whether he has courage, Kuse informs Setoguchi he is free everyday and they can do this together.
As a concern of only entertaining him is raised, Setoguchi punches Kuse and says he won't rely on him. Laughing wildly at what kind of punch that was, Kuse states a girl's slap would be more powerful. Not willing to degrade himself anymore, Setoguchi speaks he cannot stand losing. Hearing the bullies call for him, Kuse wonders if Setoguchi will go. As he heads to engage them, Kuse questions what makes him try so hard, to which Setoguchi answers he just does not want to be disappointed in himself anymore.
Approaching them, Setoguchi says he will not give the money to the bullies or obey them anymore. Shouting that he will not listen even if they beat him up, Setoguchi is punched by Kakuda. Finding the pain unbearable, Setoguchi thinks it would be better to just submit to them. Students notice that a transfer student is getting beaten by Kakuda a distance away. Questioned if he feels like handing over the money now, Setoguchi replies absolutely not. Desperate, Setoguchi means to try and hold out until he faints.
Kuse announces to others that Setoguchi is his number 2
Jumping between them, Kuse then rounds on Setoguchi to laugh that his nose is bleeding and his face looks weird. Turning to the others, Kuse details how Setoguchi hit his face so starting today he is his number 2. The rule that was decided for the school was that shots to Setoguchi that are recognized by him will result in elevation in the caste pyramid. As students discuss how Setoguchi hit Kuse in the face and who he is, it is said how no one has ever done that before. Meanwhile, Setoguchi orders Kuse to tell him what he is planning.
As Rei heads off by himself, Kuse says to Setoguchi that from now on he hopes school will be fun for him. Stunned, Setoguchi wonders how this happened.[1]
