King's Maker is a manhwa written by Haga and illustrated by Kang Jiyoung. With the prologue then chapters 1-38 the story is complete. King's Maker: Triple Crown is a sequel story that has chapters 1-ongoing.
Synopsis[]
Wolfgang Goldenleonard, the 4th Prince of the kingdom, returns to the palace after years of living in hiding. He rejects everything about his new royal life, but is intrigued by the mysterious and dutiful Shin Soohyuk, a catamite of the King. As Wolfgang slowly opens up and learns the ways of the palace, Soohyuk begins to see something special about the wild, unkempt, and stubborn young prince. He might just be the one Soohyuk has been waiting for... the one who could light the flame of rebellion.

Wolfgang Goldenleonard[]
Transported in a shabby wagon like a "wild beast", Leonard uses a knife to sharpen a stick. Being the fourth prince he is angered at being asked to change attire when he chose to live in the stables for a week. He is biologically related to the king but rejects everything he has and grew up on the streets. During that time he did not know what those searching for him were planning only that traps were involved. Wolfgang remembers his mother's warning to not covet anything owned by the king and to pretend otherwise if he felt it. Whilst he did not share his real name with other street kids and had them address him as "boss" Wolfgang was moved to rescue others. This practice has been maintained when he was transported to the palace. Approaching Shin Soohyuk by climbing up to a second story window he has some idea of the situation with him and the king and suggests he can free him. This time Wolfgang shows an interest in learning more about someone. He takes Shin's advice to don his royal attire with clothing indicating someone's status in the palace.
Shin Soohyuk[]
He is polite and speaks with respect when with the king. Seated beside him in a banquet hall Shin thinks to himself that rather than Wolfgang causing a scene he looked more like a wild beast in captivity than a prince. Understanding that Wolfgang's mother passed away in an "unfortunate accident" with nothing lost on him Shin considers Wolfgang's temperament and that he will not last long in the palace. After being approached by and speaking to him Shin considers Wolfgang's words that he can become king and remove the king's cloak from himself. Joining Wolfgang outside Shin has a detailed knowledge of how the royal clothes are to be worn and will teach him the basics of dressing like a prince. Wolfgang comments that Shin is quite reserved in demeanour.
The King[]
When his fourth son has been found he chastises Wolfgang for living as he does. Keeping Shin close the king says he will read him a fairy tail in his chambers after supper as he strokes Shin's leg. He selects the best looking orphan boys in the kingdom and has them move into the palace and spends more time with them then on matters of state. The palace also sent gifts to Wolfgang and his mother one of which sparked a fire that destroyed the manor.
Duke of Ulysses[]
Wolfgang and Shin visit the duke of Ulysses after he has reportedly fallen ill.

Wolfgang's mother who he lived with until he was thirteen.
Story Introduction[]
There are more guards at the gate than usual since the new prince is moving into the palace today. Wolfgang has not changed his clothes and the passing by king says to leave him, that Leonard is stubborn like his mother which was what led to her downfall. Angered at the comments Leonard rushes towards the king before being restrained where Shin Soohyuk appears and speaks on his behalf.[1]
Wolfgang's time as a youth is recounted where he lived among others in the streets. With guards secretly murdering boys named 'Wolfgang' he rescues one named that before turning himself in to end the murders. He remembers his mother perishing in a fire which started with a gift sent from the royal palace. Warned not to covet anything from the king, presently he watches as Shin is taken away.[2]
At a banquet Shin contemplates Wolfgang's actions. After he has washed in his chambers Shin walks through a corridor where Wolfgang enters through one of the windows. Wondering about his relation with the king Wolfgang asks what if he could stop Shin from being the king's property by becoming the king himself. His convictions to reject the king's possessions is not the same as the blind courage to throw away all of his rights and privileges.[3]
