Joo Jaekyung is a character from Jinx, a manhwa by Mingwa. Exceptionally talented at mixed martial arts, Jaekyung believes it is due to a jinx that he has where success comes from sleeping with someone the night before. Upon seeing Kim Dan he sets about having him hired as his personal physical therapist. Learning more of Dan's background mellows Jaekyung's harsh demenour around him and the fellow club members at his gym, and yet he remains a potent combatant in the arena as he progresses on that front as well.

Ready in the fighting ring
A world-renowned martial arts fighter, Jaekyung is the reigning light heavyweight champion of MFC's International Mixed Martial Arts Tournament. Very capable at a range of fighting styles, it is why he got the alias "Tyrant". A tyrant in the ring, Jaekyung is also nicknamed "The Emperor" and is considered to be the strongest man in the world.
In training at the gym with his coach, Park Namwook, at some point Jaekyung had burst the punching bag from striking it too hard. Although other athletes at the gym had parties at restaurants, Jaekyung rarely attended them though he had trained with the other coach member of the club, Jeong Yosep. Combat moves that he is good at include the Guillotine Choke, and while Jaekyung is famous for his strikes his jujitsu skills are also announced to be impressive. An all-rounder, Jaekyung is skilled at grappling but personally prefers direct strikes.
Although a left-handed fighter, Jaekyung uses both hands in daily life. His hobbies include watching movies, one occasions when he cannot sleep Jaekyung views a movie in black and white. Reading, jogging, and swimming are also hobbies where Jaekyung has access to his own private pool. Milk and all types of meat are favorite foods.
Being with other men, Jaekyung thinks of trying all kinds of variations. He would bring men back to his penthouse and felt they were needed to help him win matches. His tattoos include a Devil mask and a traditional Korean pattern on his left arm, he has a cloud tattoo on his right arm going down to his elbow. In his commitment to practising his capabilities, Jaekyung had dismissed multiple doctor's tasked with assiting his development.

A rather calm side for Jaekyung
When training (such as jogging, or boxing), Joo wears a tight black shirt and loose gray shorts. Within the boxing ring, Joo is shirtless with black loose shorts. Joo uses red boxing gloves. He can agilely avoid an opponent's strike and respond in turn. Punching to bloody an opponent, Jaekyung disregards the ref's intervention. In pummelling a competitor, Jaekyung reasons that the opponent wanted to spar so he sparred and asks what the problem is. Although it can appear so, Jaekyung is not striking out of malice, rather to ensure victory with a sustained and brutal fighting capability.
Joo Jaekyung is a very tall and muscular person. He has Cauliflower ear which occurs after someone gets struck or from repeated hits to the ear which would arise from boxing. Jaekyung has soft, pink-red lips, with black eyes and short black hair. For his hair, he has three strands hanging on his face. His hair is slicked back. He has upwards eyebrows.
It is seen that Joo Jaekyung is very rough and careless. He has different methods of preparing for matches in contrast to others who think that training before the match is better. In using the showers his instruction is that others do not bother him if he is there. Raising the manner on which he prepares for a match, Jaekyung questions Dan whether he thinks that is strange. After being struck by Dan, he responds it was not half bad. Feeling they were cotton candy fists, Jaekyung cannot believe he just took a hit from an actual featherweight.
Overall a very calm person, Jaekyung generally has an un-interested facial expression. He can and will take down every man he sees in the ring, without hesitation. While appearing furious in addressing where Dan had touched him, Jaekyung was also surprised and asked why he was crying. Upon learning where Dan was living, Jaekyung was disgusted by the stench of poverty, and so brought Dan back to his penthouse. Not understanding how his comments on Dan's living conditions were received, Jaekyung asks what the problem was and whether he was wrong.

Speaking to Dan about his jinx
Having been clear he does not want strangers in the gym while he trains, Jaekyung nonetheless proceeds with the massage that Dan has arrived to carry out. Deploying the excuse that his clothes are covered in sweat, Jaekyung asks Dan if he can do the massage naked in which he removes his shirt. Afterwards it is Jaekyung who calls Dan as he has a match tomorrow so needs another treatment right now.
Seeking Dan's viewpoint, Jaekyung addresses how he has this jinx where he needs to sleep with someone the night before a match otherwise he feels his ability to win will be compromised. Judging that Dan still does not get it, Jaekyung questions why does he think he requested he come over. Further, Jaekyung raises who spends five grand on physical therapy in the middle of the night. In the morning, Jaekyung is pleased to find that Dan has left. He concludes it is more fun this way.
