Characters[]
Motoharu Tsujimura[]
Entering university Motoharu states that he does not have a particular field of study in mind yet and has just come here to live carefree. He is the second son of the Tsujimura clinic and feels neither his elder brother or father have any expectations of him. When he was ten Motoharu observed that a young boy would come again to peer into his garden from outside the fence, and he invited Akira in to view the flowers. He was taught a foreign language at the time and would share new words with Akira who became his only friend after Motoharu kissed him on the cheek. When he was fifteen his father brought girls over to see him yet Motoharu realized right away that he always thought of Akira more than a close friend. He felt Akira gripping back his own hand was probably just his own heart being conceited when he thought there were feelings there. Motoharu worked hard to get into the same university and even the same research laboratory as Akira. Breaking promises is something Motoharu has felt he has always done and that is the justification he uses to cancel plans with Suzuchiyo to instead walk home together with Akira. When he receives a good fortune card and Akira has a misfortune one Motoharu gives his good fortune to him. Motoharu is sorry for saying that he was satisfied with remaining friends with Akira, he has never once thought that and hates being friends. Motoharu does not want to hand Akira over to anyone else and even now he loves all of him.
Akira Hazumi[]
He decided his choice of university after having read Myako's works. Akira wanted to study mainly in the agriculture field as he did. Approaching Motoharu, Akira questions whether he took the entrance exam for this school on his own and is concerned whether Motoharu intends to idle his time away. As a child he really enjoyed the flowers, a lot of which he had never seen before, in Motoharu's garden. When he heard that Motoharu loved him Akira apologized and said he does not think of him that way. Whilst later he did kiss him Akira again broke away. Still recognizing their secret code he met Motoharu outside his house where Akira expressed that he was afraid that if he got too close to Motoharu since when they had to part ways he would not be able to bear it. With Motoharu telling him everything Akira does the same and reveals that when he graduates there is a planned marriage that had been arranged when he was a child. Considering it would shame the other family to cancel the wedding Akira feels it is selfish of him to fall in love with Motoharu. At a hotel room together Akira is nervous and is under the impression that Motoharu is used to doing things like this. Whilst Akira does press ahead with marrying his intended fiancée he does consider the luck card that Motoharu had left in a statue nearby and smiles.
Shirota[]
A student in the same class as Akira and Motoharu.
Motoharu's Father[]
When Motoharu was a boy he said that strangers must not be allowed on the house grounds. When Motoharu turned fifteen his father brought him over to where he would use tatami mats whilst Motoharu was left with Suzuchiyo there.
Suzuchiyo[]
With Motoharu saying that she must be bored of hearing about stories concerning his father she wondered whether he liked the topic himself. After helping walk him home Suzuchiyo was pleased to hear Motoharu confirm that he will visit again. She was concerned with his wellbeing at being out so late and had a kind sweet demeanour.
Youko[]
Hired as a maid she helps bring Motoharu tea and comments on his facial expressions that she is able to read. Commenting that she rarely sees Motoharu up so early Youko states that complaining to him is not part of her job description rather it is something she just enjoys doing. She is an effective confidant whose advise Motoharu decides to follow regarding pursuing what he likes. Youko continues to serve the household and reminds Motoharu that it might not be too late to attend the ceremony.
Shouta Misaki[]
It is recalled that Shouta was a first year who would like to work in the plant microbiology lab. His grandfather was Akira Misaki. After the events of Hana no Mizo Shiru he is living together with Youichi and he has been having dreams about him. Whilst he is working on his thesis that Shouta is to submit soon he falls asleep. Shouta is concerned at meeting Youichi's parents. Feeling that he is bad at that kind of thing Shouta is afraid they would start to suspect him when he acts so weirdly nervous when it comes to Youchi. Agreeing to try the dresses on that Maki suggests afterwards he tells Youichi that he still does not like being called cute but it is fine when Youichi says it. Shouta is also comfortable with Youichi hugging him in the open. He is tearfully emotional at the idea of being adopted into Youichi's family with the ring that was there as well.
Youichi Arikawa[]
After helping a customer and asked if he has any time this weekend Youichi replies that his office is closed then and Friday he will be giving counselling. Receiving a gift from the woman Youichi thinks about how Shouta would like it. Youichi had told his parents that Shouta was a friend he was living with but wants them to meet face to face. With Shouta facing his mother Youichi thinks it looks like he has stopped functioning. Whether Shouta is dressed in elaborate dresses or not Youichi states that he finds him so incredibly cute. Youichi hands a ring with the adoption papers he gives to Shouta when he asks him to become part of his family.
Matsumoto[]
A woman who presents a gift to Youichi with a message for them to next time head somewhere to eat. It is a formal and polite note where Matsumoto also attaches a strawberry related email address.
Maki Arikawa[]
Youichi's older sister who attends the family dinner. She comments favourably on how Shouta's skin is so pretty and pale. Wanting to show Shouta something Maki takes him by the arm and with Youichi acting defensively over him Maki informs him to not make this difficult. She questions if Youichi knows what it means when he brought Shouta over. A stylist, Maki has a collection of western clothes that she would like Shouta to wear. Maki feels no hesitation in needing Shouta to wear the dresses since they should be the right size. Of all Youichi's friends Shouta is the prettiest girl yet.
Ikejima[]
A mentioned friend of Youichi and Maki's who was more than likely one of Maki's dress models.
Otou[]
Seeing Shouta dressed he questions if he is Youichi's girlfriend before deducing that it must be just another one of Maki's unreasonable requests.
