Dragon in Distress is a manhua written and illustrated by Si Wang Wen Hua and Yao Yao. First released in 2019, it has been published by AC.QQ. The English publishers are Webnovel and WeComics, however the latter one no longer does so. An anime (known as donghua) adaption has been announced.

This is the story of an eastern blue dragon and a western black dragon playing together.

Aoao[]
A child born into an underwater settlement where dragons lived, Aoao was perturbed by others' disappointment of his lack of magical abilities. Leaving home to develop his powers, Aoao sought items of great value. Attending school to find one such item, Aoao has no memory of Ryan. While making attempts to distance himself from him, Aoao continues his search while being confronted with supernatural based threats that he comes into contact with in the mortal world.

Ryan[]
At school Ryan acts casually when interacting with Aoao. Placing his arm around him, Ryan mentions they have gym class next so he will take him there. Asking who Tudi is, Ryan wants to know if Aoao has any other family members such as a brother for example. Not addressing what he has in mind directly, Ryan had seen the message from Aoao's brother seeking news on his whereabouts. Experiencing a car plow into him, Ryan informs Aoao that he does not really feel anything. Claiming that his finger is slightly injured, Ryan is hopeful that Aoao will lick it better. In his residence, Ryan conceals his demonic dragon-like appearance.
Tudi Yeye[]
An Earth god at 800 years, Tudi is severely short-sighted and said to be zealous about his health. Saying for Aoao to address him as Grandpa and not old geezer, Tudi reminds how he took him in and had nowhere to hide when there was a bounty for his capture. Observing Ryan with Aoao he concludes it is a great bond between classmates. While remaining calm and pleasant, Tudi has contemplated murdering Aoao's elder brother.
Aoao's Brother[]
Desperate to find his missing brother, he has sent missing posters but with Aoao when he was a naked baby. Upon locating him, he entreats Aoao to fall into his embrace as he greets his "wittle brother". For some inexplicable reason he is naked under his cloak. Having the powers to transform Aoao into a younger form, he says for them to go home as everybody misses him. Surprisingly quick to be fine with Aoao wanting to stay where he is, it may be because he has him where a ring that can track his location at all times. The second condition is that he wants to stay here with Aoao. When Tudi protests, he is aware of his desire to kill him and wants to know why he has gotten so close to Aoao.
Li Huan[]
Aoao's class member who joins him in heading to find Ryan and is talkative and curious all the while. Entering into a cave with him, he is upset after Aoao's claims they are not that close. Although he marvels at the beautiful scenery within the cave he is wary of the possibility that there could be demons. Wondering if Aoao is upset because the pearl he is looking for is not here, he is surprised that Aoao can still move after touching him. Li at this point is possessed by a snake-like entity. After being rescued and brought back home, Lil feels like he had a very strange dream.
Snake Spirit[]
Bringing Aoao into its nest which is a glittering cave, the snake spirit needs a dragon's body rather than a human's. In attempting to transfer its soul into him, due to Ryan's timely rescue of Aoao, it ends up in the body of a tortoise. Taken along with Aoao, the demon spirit cautions him against Ryan, yet shares details on Aoao's lack of powers being related to his primordial spirit.
Story[]
A long time ago, in the depths of the Eastern sea, the Second Prince was born. In the underwater settlement a serpentine dragon was sure that the human baby Aoao was sure to grow into an outstanding dragon. At 500 years old Aoao was a child as he welcomed the test of his divine powers. The attempts to generate a tsunami, and then a storm led nowhere however, and yet Aoao could ride on winds for a time. Spectators found it hard to believe that Aoao was the Second Prince of the Dragon King. Listening as it was mentioned that he could not be brought to the Celestial meeting or it would be an embarrassment, Aoao elected to run away. In order to grow stronger, Aoao travelled the world.
Now a young adult, Aoao is dressed in modern day attire. Before a school, Aoao had heard there is a XuanLong Pearl there that he just needs to swallow to become powerful. Unable to locate it having searched extensively, Aoao returns home to where an Earth god named Tudi Yeye is. When he is addressed old geezer, Tudi reminds Aoao how he took him in and raises how perhaps he should turn Aoao in and use the bounty to renovate his Earth temple. When Aoao obliges with addressing him as Grandpa, Tudi turns to the matter of wondering if he is not taking a soak in the school's pond tonight. Aoao responds he is unable to go anymore since he has been noticed.
At night, Ryan stands atop a building and wonders which god who he has in mind is.[1]
