Synopsis[]
Mokhwa, an unemployed, young man who wants to commit suicide, but he instead finds himself signing up for swimming lessons. He eventually begins falling for his swim teacher, a beautiful man with a great body. But the closer he gets, he can't help but feel there's something a little strange...

Hopping from job to job, Mokhwa doesn't have the greatest confidence and believes himself unable to hold a job long term. This makes him depressed and suicidal until he meets Changgyeong. They become friends with benefits fast and soon he finds himself struggling with Changgyeong not understanding that Mokhwa wants to become something more.
Shin Changgyeong[]
A swimming instructor who moved to Busan in hopes of finding his dolphin trainer from the past when Changgyeong was still a dolphin. While he is somewhat capable navigating the human world, he has not fully adapted to it and doesn't fully understand society rules, nor human emotions, rendering him oblivious to Mokhwa's feelings about their relationship.
Ji Hunyoung[]
An office worker who works for the company Mokhwa is employed at and Mokhwa's manager. When Changgyeong falls ill, Mokhwa thought that Hunyoung was a veterinarian and recalls that he had an interest for dolphins which inspires Mokhwa to seek his help. Later on, Changgyeong finds out that Hunyoung was his dolphin trainer and they are relieved to see each other once again, as trainer and dolphin. However Hunyoung rejects Changgyeong's advance to kiss and scolds Mokhwa on why he hasn't taught Changgyeong to learn basic rules of society. He then encourages that Mokhwa teach Changgyeong from now on.
Yoon Beom[]
A killer whale Hunyoung found and rescued when Beom was washed up on a shore. Unable to transform back into his previous form, he relies on Hunyoung until he can recover enough to transform back. Because Beom is a killer whale and not a dolphin, he is unable to adapt to the human society as easily as his dolphin friends are. This shows up as a conflict later on when he and Hunyoung become lovers. Staying in Hunyoung's apartment for long periods of time alone, it creates a cage for Beom and Beom's longing for the ocean becomes far too strong to avoid. This scares Hunyoung as he is afraid that Beom wont return when he goes back to the ocean.
Oh Rino[]
A pink Amazon river dolphin who doesn't trust humans. He often freeloads at anyone's house, especially Changgyeong's place in the beginning until he meets Ye Jiseung.
