Synopsis[]
Ayato transfers into a new school, hoping for a fresh start. Sadly for him, the school turns up to be filled with delinquents, and the most feared of them all has his eye set on him. And it doesn't help, that whenever Ayato accidentally takes off his glasses, everyone around him suddenly becomes completely smitten by him.
Characters[]
Nakasone Ayato[]
At seventeen years of age he has a power that he considers more of a curse. In confrontational situations, he apologizes a lot and appears uneasy around violence. Ayato feels he is unlucky to be placed in the same class as Yusei. Whilst he is generally timid, Ayato does not tolerate his glasses being called ugly but having them removed reveals a power that magically induces people to fall in love with him, before their memories go fuzzy and things return to normal once they are put back on. He remembers when he was younger that people always tired of him quickly, but with delinquent guys his power can now get him into trouble and Ayato feels he chose the wrong school to attend. He realizes that his fearful nature stopped him from properly seeing Yusei, and he came to see him as not just a good person but strong, kind, and cool. At that point however, Ayato's lack of self-esteem remains as he feels he is not good enough to stay by his side. However he decides he does want to be with Yusei forever and musters what is for him the courage to say he likes Yusei.
Horiguchi Yusei[]
Coming across Ayato being bullied, he intervenes on his behalf. Calmly asking them what is going on is enough to scare the delinquents away but he still glowers at Ayato in class as well. His strength was renowned even in middle school where he would wield a baseball bat. Cornering Ayato, he asks whether he likes being bullied and why he does not fight back, apparently not affected by Ayato's lack of glasses power. He is often napping in class, or other locations like the library. There, Yusei asks Ayato if he is scary to him, then later confirms that of course he remembers kissing Ayato. Perplexed at Ayato calling what he has a curse, Yusei solves the problem by saying that Ayato will have to stay by his side forever. Bringing him back to his place, Yusei comments that Ayato never smiles when he is with him, but he does around his friends. He retains the desire to kiss Ayato with his glasses on and off. Yusei explains he always had a hard time understanding other people's feeling, specifically whether or not they hate him. He refrains from kissing Ayato unless he wants him to, he was just under the impression he liked it at the time. Yusei does not waver in his defence of Ayato and listens to he would like.
Kino[]
Among other classmates he towers over Ayato but fears Yusei. Removing Ayato's glasses, Kino declares that he loves "bun-chan," yet cannot say for sure why they were chasing him after they are put back on. Although he warned Ayato not to annoy Yusei so he comes after them, Kino does say he is worried about Ayato after noticing how close he has gotten to Yusei, wary that he hangs out with even worse guys. Overall he is lively and behaves as a friend to Ayato and his other friends in class.
Ayato's Guardian[]
Likely Ayato's mother, this woman comforted him after Ayato was chased and providing him glasses, she reveals she was cursed like him and it really gave her a hard time. She tells him one day he will find someone who loves him whether he is wearing glasses or not.
Horiguchi Masato[]
Yusei's older brother, he welcomes Yusei home at a bar like location and also warmly greets Ayato after asking his name. He remarks that he has not seen Yusei that happy in a long time. Presenting a dessert, he says that Ayato is cute and asks whether or not Ayato will become his younger brother by marrying Yusei.
While detailing his past with another male student, Masato would relieve his stress by fighting with others. Along with his friends he would pick on Mamoru and was angered further that he did not fight back. After school he was pulled away from the ledge of a bridge by Mamoru and found the solace he needed after the pressure of his parent's divorce was causing strife with his mother as well.
His kind streak was seen then and was retained to the present day where he welcomes those he cares about home, and enjoys seeing people happy.
Fumisawa Mamoru[]
Over a decade ago in school Fumisawa was bullied by Masato and he did not say a word no matter what was done. Speaking to him outside of school he was concerned about Masato's wellbeing after his parent's divorce and wanted him to feel better. Mamoru tells him he fell for him at first site and liked Masato's good looks but also felt something was troubling him. He was teased for sounding like a masochist for saying he did not care about Masato hitting him, but it came from a place of wanting him to feel better no matter what.
He cares deeply about Masato and is described as being more outgoing than he was in school. Mamoru jokingly comments on the masochist remark that Masato is now the one who begs, in bed, and he is happy to confirm they are dating by kissing Masato.
Yusei and Masato's Mother[]
During high school, Masato was troubled by his mother's divorce and considered his father to be trash for leaving. Whilst their mother attempted to be sympathetic and was concerned about Masato fighting at school, she did not approve of Masato viewing his father like that. She did blame herself for it since it was felt she could do nothing for Masato.
Story Introduction[]
Ayato is being hassled for his wallet by those who recognise him from Nami High. Yusei is also from the school and confronts them yet Ayato runs away being far more scared of him. At school his teacher discusses the amount of punks in the area, although Yami High's are the worst of the lot.
Classmates including Kino warn Ayato of Yusei, and also not to make him come after them. He ends up procuring drinks for Kino, Kawabe and others before seeing Yusei has joined him at the vending machine. Back in class, Kino removes Ayato's glasses and his classmates fall in love with him having come under magically induced enamour. Yusei finds and kisses Ayato and announces that from now on he is his. Yusei confronts delinquents from Nishi High and defends Ayato from them.
Finding him in the library, Yusei remembers telling Ayato that he was his even though he is wearing his glasses and so Yusei should have forgotten. Yusei himself is questioned on his change in behaviour, but he replies it is nothing. Ayato's classmates observe Ayato being held by Yusei, and later tell him to let them know if Yusei takes him anywhere weird, they are friends after all.
Realizing that they have gone somewhere weird once they arrive at Yusei's place, upstairs Ayato is kissed and realizes that Yusei is not affected by his curse. Yusei guesses that he does genuinely like Ayato. Considering this, Ayato listens as Yusei's older brother, Masato also had a relationship with Mamoru during school ten years ago, and then presently Mamaru arrives at the bar to show that he and Masato are dating with no intention of breaking up.
With Yusei arriving home, Ayato walks back home and thanks him for taking care of him. Although Yusei feels Ayato does not return his affections, Ayato states otherwise and wants to stay with Yusei.
