Story[]
A knight is considered to be humble and merciful, heroic and loyal. Honor and sacrifice, death and reincarnation are factors, and Lancer Veil sees a body before him, his own. Over 300 years, Lancer never gave up attempting to slaughter the dragon and save the princess. However, the chief knight, Lance Vi, found the princess had been rescued. In the present time, Lancer views photos on his phone of her happy with a man. In considering the sly, cunning, and extremely shameless Ravel Cappatosia, and how he is next to him in bed, Lancer finds his abilities cannot compare. In the modern world, the full implementation of the spirit of a knight consists of strictly following rules. The match-up is a shameless and blunt vampire and a persistent and just knight. Receiving a friend request, Lancer blocks Ravel.[1]
Three hundred years ago the princess was captured by the evil dragon. As a knight, Lancer accepted a curse, along with the strength it brought him. Through endless reincarnations across different time periods, Lancer kept up his search for the princess. Presently, Lancer finds it surprising being able to find traces of the princess so easily in this life. Reaching her office, Lancer is not only surprised to find the evil dragon in a human form, but the princess herself as a CEO who is with him. Told there is no need for a rescue, Lancer hears he can go and find his love.
Remembering how he made an oath to the king to retrieve his daughter, even if Lancer was slain by the evil dragon, or received a curse ingrained into his body, reincarnation could bring him back, with a life limit of twenty seven years each time. Shocked at current events, Lancer then sees one his phone how frogs and bunnies are escaping, where students need Lancer to help them. Intending to return to the university, Lancer feels teaching and education is not easy but at least it gives him a break from this princess incident. Distressed messages from the students warn him that the white rats escaped into the canteen, and the bunnies are ruining the neighbors' vegetable gardens, and so Lancer begins running back to the university.
Passing an alleyway, Ravel is lying there as Lancer runs past. Detecting that someone is there, Lancer checks Ravel and thinks being passed out here is really dangerous. In meaning to take him to hospital, a magic is loosened, and Ravel speaks how he wants the good thing he smells. Startled, Lancer finds himself bitten by Ravel.[2] Realizing the same, Ravel pushes Lancer away then runs. As Lancer says for Ravel to wait up, he considers how his blood is poisoned. By himself, Ravel processes he broke his vow of abstinence yet finds he enjoyed Lancer's blood.
Seeing how Ravel turned out to be a vampire, Lancer thinks how the last monster that drank his blood died young. Aware of the other pressing matter that he can attend to, Lancer hurries to university. By night time Lancer considers how he spent the time catching the escaped animals. Having thought the curse would disappear after rescuing the princess, Lancer drifts off to sleep. A hand appears on his window, and Ravel makes his entry as Lancer wakes up. Placing himself on the bed, Ravel asks if he can have another bite. In response, Lancer questions how he is still alive as he has holy blood. Finding himself refreshed, Ravel would like to make a long-term reservation.[3]
The princess and dragon are envisioned, as the former wishes who she is addressing to find happiness. Waking, Lancer wonders if that was a dream. As he considers his happiness in the bathroom, Lancer is startled as Ravel bangs his way through the door. After wiping his face, Ravel shares that he will be waiting in the living room. Sat together at the table, Ravel mentions the Ramune soft drink that he has is the last one, so Lancer should remember to buy more on his way back from work tomorrow. Also desiring steak, Ravel questions whether Japanese or Korean would be better.
Leaving in response, Lancer wonders how things came to be like this. It is recalled how Lancer in bed drew his sword in response to an invader in his house, yet upon stabbing into Ravel he found it done nothing. After mentioning there is no way to kill him, Ravel pulled Lancer closer before suggesting how about they make a deal. If Lancer offered him his blood, then Ravel stated he would not attack the innocents. When Lancer said if he was trying to threaten him, Ravel instantly answered joyfully that is right.
After Lancer struck away, Ravel fell back in a cloud of bats as he asked him to consider it. Afterwards, Lancer tried a few more methods, such as performing an exorcism which had no effect on Ravel, and the silver rings he learned could kill a vampire were worn as jewellery. While basking in the sun, Ravel suggested he and Lancer add each other on the SNS messaging feature. Noticing the friend request had come through, Lancer blocked Ravel. Accordingly, Ravel sent many friend request pings and Lancer found he could not even get rid of his social media accounts.[4]
It is 9:00am and on the train, Lancer looks up biological terms as well as the definition of legal organization. His shoulder touched, Lancer turns to find Ravel there holding a sign for him to save the wounded and dedicate his love. It has been a week since he met him, and Lancer finds Ravel has taken every opportunity he sees. In one such instance, Ravel was passing on an adjacent escalator holding an "everyone should donate blood" sign. When Lancer pointed out that this is the bathroom, Ravel said not to worry, the donation truck is just outside and on call 24/7. From appearing in the super-market too, Lancer finds it is never ending. After Ravel suggests they have shrimp croquette tonight, Lancer snaps enough which alarms him. Asked if he is tired of it, Ravel denies it before saying it is a new experience, and he is dangerously attracted to Lancer.
As Ravel begins to explain what he has imagined doing, Lancer covers his mouth and addresses how he wants his blood to regenerate. Raising how the holy sword is indeed ineffective against him, Lancer mentions on that day when it came into contact with Ravel's abdomen, his reaction was slightly different. Humility, integrity, compassion are indeed the standards of being a knight, but Lancer explains that things do change depending on who is being dealt with, as a spell circle appears on his hand. His sword drawn, Lancer pushes Ravel against the wall and warns him to not test his limits, he will not give him his blood.
A chain wraps round Lancer's neck and he realizes the curse is taking effect at this time. Stating to not say it with certainty, Ravel cannot see the chain so does not seem to grasp Lancer's situation, yet asks if he can feel something as he points to his own chest. Having been sticking together ever since they met, it as as Ravel expected, they are destined. While Ravel is pleased that they are soul mates, Lancer is disgusted since it sounds like fraud. Asking Lancer to step into the grave of marriage with him, he feels the doves of peace will soar freely and the world will bless them. Not needing any tokens of love, Ravel is clear he just needs Lancer's blood. A heartfelt display is seen as abhorrent by Lancer, who orders Ravel to not project any of his disgusting fantasies onto him.
Questioning why Ravel dodged his sword even though it is ineffective, the answer is although it does not injure him, it still hurts a little. The conflict is broken up when Lancer hears a young boy exclaim to his mother that he wants that sword too. As Lancer tries to hide the weapon, Ravel snickers.[5] With the child drawing more attention to Lancer's sword he is attempting to conceal in public, it is Ravel who intercedes to tell the kid that asking for things that do not belong to him will get him punished. Continuing, Ravel gives an example that if the child bumps into a vampire he will suck all of his blood, at which point Lancer intervenes to pull him away before he goes too far.
Retiring to a nearby storage room, Ravel mentions how he was helping Lancer out and should he not be thanking him. After Lancer replies that he was just a child and there was no need to frighten him, Ravel thinks he misunderstood as had no one stopped him he would have devoured him to bits. From that, Ravel says for Lancer to consider the deal with him, for his blood to be consumed rather than others, adding further that he does not have other choices anyway. As he heads on his way, Lancer thinks how Ravel is really dangerous.
Within his office, Lancer is asked if he is working on the students' homework. His sleepy appearance commented on, Lancer had spent the night thinking of vampires. Taking a walk to clear his head, outside Lancer remembers a past priest's words that his body is the kingdom's blade, and his blood is the holy blood of faith. The day when the princess is saved from the abyss, the curse will be lifted. Since Lancer did not actually save the princess, the binding chain is still present. Not understanding, Lancer thinks he accepted the curse to save the princess and now she is safe, so the curse should be lifted. That is not the case, and bad things keep happening to him, namely Ravel being around.
Wondering why the princess told him to be happy, Lancer contemplates whether the wording changed and now finding happiness has become a necessary condition for solving the curse. Additionally, after bumping into Ravel, he finds his curse mark will begin to feel hot. Checking his phone, Lancer sees a news article concerning a drunk man fighting with a cat. The man being arrested appears to be Ravel. Called darling, Lancer discovers Ravel himself before him on campus. As Ravel speaks how they are deeply bonded by appetite, Lancer finds the chains suddenly affecting him again. As Ravel notices that something is amiss, on his part Lancer is considering the words of happiness as he processes what the princess said, where she is pictured happy with the evil dragon.
Asking him what is wrong, Ravel decides that Lancer is contemplating the meaning of life now that he cannot kill him. Since he is not a normal vampire, Ravel does divulge that there is one way he can kill him and he can tell Lancer. Disposing of him in a trash can, Lancer announces it is better to throw away this kind of happiness as soon as possible.[6] It is considered how Lancer possesses holy blood, that can burn everything according to myths. Entering a bar, after Ravel is greeted by information broker Sanok he addresses him as a swindler and demands the info he asked for.
Receiving background information on Lancer, including that he is a holy knight, Ravel contemplates how there are all kinds of creatures in the dark corners of the world, including fairies, witches, and spirits, yet the holy knight has long been cast away in a corner of time. Having not seen one in hundreds of years, Ravel thinks that he found one that looked perfect while sleeping. Human bodies are unable to handle the power of a knight so they break down soon after, hence why the holy blood knight cannot live for more than twenty seven years.
Seeing that Lancer is 25, Sanok mentions there is more information at the back. After Sanok comments with business being bad he had to be thorough, Lancer addresses how the way to save himself was to investigate someone's shoulder, waist, and hip sizes. Sanok offers to acquire photos, and Lancer promptly demands them. Seeing details of Lancer online, with them acquired Ravel says next time Sanok should not do any of these exposing privacy sort of things. Viewing a list of books Lancer has been reading, some are biology related but Ravel sees more recent ones range from dissecting vampires to the magic of killing vampires. Although it is lost on Ravel who voices the field of biology involves a lot of hunting techniques, Sanok mentions he is pretty sure Lancer is looking for ways to kill him.
Joking aside, Sanok enquires whether Lancer really is the one for Ravel as he does not look like the type to give in easily. When Sanok says to look at it this way, that Ravel has been thrown out of the window 46 times, Ravel corrects him that it is 47. All other blood suggestions such as animal ones are rejected. Acknowledging how it can come across as menacing that he desires specifically human blood, Ravel mentions he imposed a ban on other families drinking it. For Lancer's blood, Ravel discusses how the effect of the holy bullet keeps spreading, yet his blood could relieve him. Not willing to die, Ravel asks Sanok if there is any way he could have Lancer provide his blood.
Arriving home by nightfall, Lancer finds Ravel waiting patiently, on his bed. Declaring that he consulted a professional today, Ravel speaks how it could be due to an emotional hurdle as to why Lancer is not willing to let him drink his blood. Patting the bed for Lancer to sit down, Ravel says the solution is to get to know each other so they should start with their bodies first. Presenting a skincare oil bottle, Ravel explains he even prepared tools and asks a decidedly unhappy Lancer whether he wants to try it out now. Hurled out the window, Ravel mentions that his massage technique is very professional. From the ground, Sanok is with some cats as he notes Ravel has been thrown out 48 times.[7]
His phone ringing in the morning, Lancer bets it is that damn vampire again. Previously, Ravel had appeared to wonder whether starting with the body was progressing too fast and that is why Lancer was refusing him. It was not a matter of that, Lancer just hopes Ravel would keep his distance far away from him. Getting it, Ravel turned into a bat to fly away before Lancer's phone rang. There were many messages, including one stating there was a distance between them, but their hearts were still close to one another. One message was keen to report that there was a super hot vampire seducing people online, and Lancer could click to experience it immediately.
Angered, Lancer wills himself to be calm as that is one of the knight's virtues. Forgetting that, Lancer wanted to kill him. With it 07:25 on his phone, Lancer found a message from the director concerning a social practice activity tomorrow. By morning, at the Dongcheng biological museum it is explained that there are three sub-zones with more than three hundred species of animals on display. Two girls speak amongst themselves on whether Lancer is lovesick given that he seems occupied. Considering how his phone is filled with spam messages, Lancer still notices one of the girls trip on the steps and is able to catch her.
The girls are impressed and yet a boy joins their conversation having unsolicited gossip to share. On the black-haired man who has been appearing around Lancer, he says how his mother says there is something about them. His line of conversation comes to an end at feeling a pain in his back, where Lancer is behind glaring at him. Inside the museum, in addition to rare animals, there are restored fossils of extinct creatures. One skeleton appears like a dragon that students comment on. Asked about it, Lancer mentions there are rumors of a dragon fossil but the authenticity is still under discussion. Although thinking how he got rid of a dragon, Lancer speaks how the existence of them is simply a scourge, where the evil red now human dragon is pictured as said scourge. From where the red dragon is cooking, he sneezes, before telling the princess that it feels like someone was talking bad about him.
As the group speak amongst themselves, Lancer considers how things are unexpectedly calm. Noticing a bat hanging from a tree, Lancer blurts out that it is still following him. In actuality it is not Ravel as a bat, rather Lancer is observing the fruit bat display zone. Relieved, Lancer heads on his way as students react to him. Discussing whether it is not daydreaming but mental hypersensitivity, the students agree to feed a white mouse when Lancer announces he forgot to do that.
Registering the scene before him, Lancer discovers that Ravel has drawn attention by dressing smartly, and stood beside a sports car, he holds a bouquet of flowers. Finally understanding, in his view, Ravel feels he was not sincere enough before so could not move his heart. Magic has the petals fly into Lancer's face who is reaching the end of his sanity. A message from a Tao Xiao Mi details how recommendations can be made based on his search history. With it 5:34pm, Tuesday, November 24, the messages concern hunting vampires.
(A Christmas special is a part of chapter 7) On Christmas it is snowing yet Lancer remarks it looks like he is celebrating alone again this year. Voicing that he has him, Ravel is nearby eating an apple. When Lancer yells that he is the problem, and to not eat apples on his bed, Ravel affirms that he is a cute problem. Asking if he cannot see how great it is for two people, Ravel says for Lancer to see how he even decorated the house for him. It is the case that the apartment is filled with festive decorations. After Ravel says Merry Christmas, Lancer also says it, and that blessings are only for today. Now is the time to give him a gift in Ravel's view, and he wants that sweet tasty blood of Lancer's.[8]
