Having remained with Nuowan after the explosion for three days, Senyu notes he finally woke up before sharing his name. Cooking sausages, Senyu says for Nuowan to hurry up, and if he feels like crying then to do it after eating. With Nuowan protesting, Senyu feels if anyone has been cursed, it is him. While saying there is no way he will feed Nuowan bite by bite, Senyu has shoved the sausage in his mouth. If he wants to survive, Senyu states Nuowan had best listen to him from now on. Seeing Nuowan's tearful face and wondering what it with it, Senyu then kisses him. Reacting to being called a perv, Senyu wonders what was he doing just now. Having followed him, Senyu rescues him from cannibals, and wants to remain with Nuowan. Wondering if he is here to loot, Senyu is dubious of Wu's claim he has a camp with eight others. Feeling responsible for Nuowan falling ill as they travel with Wu, it is why they never left their camp. Zhouqing Wu[]
Coming across them, Wu points a gun at Senyu's head and orders him to let go of that boy. Laughing, Wu introduces himself and details he had no idea what they were just doing. Where Senyu looked positively homicidal, Wu says for them to see that smile. Never thinking he would meet more people here, Wu is blunt when asking are there more of them, and do they have a camp, then is it around here. Guessing Nuowan could say he is part of a rescue team, Wu states he used to be a fire-fighter. After nonstop searching for survivors, there are eight others besides him at their camp. Doubted by Senyu, he hands a packed meal to Nuowan whose stomach was growling. Questioning if Senyu believes him now, Wu continues there is not a ton of food yet there is still enough to go around. Enquiring where the cannibal people are, rather than get rid of them, Wu wants to save them. With no way of knowing how many people are still alive, so long as someone is breathing, Wu questions how they can give up on them. Bringing them back to camp via an ox-drawn cart, Wu asks if Nuowan and Senyu came here for the same reason he did, namely to get books. Remarking that Nuowan and Senyu are close, Wu explains after the apocalypse, he drifted alone for several weeks. Even though he felt scared and helpless when the apocalypse struck, since Wu came to find other people to live side by side with he has grown less afraid. While they are not blood related, Wu says they all feel like family to him. Feeling it is his fault for Nuowan falling ill, Wu has an antipyretic suppository to help alleviate his fever. Placing him on his side, since Wu used to be a firefighter he did all sorts of things to help people out, from catching snakes, to exterminating bees. Questioning whether Nuowan was important because Senyu thought they were the only humans still alive, or because it was him, in typically blunt fashion, Wu asks if Nuowan is Senyu's boyfriend.

Grandmother[]

Taking ahold of Nuowan's hand, she speaks how two more children are safe and sound. Addressing Nuowan as poor child, she questions why he is thin. Serving breakfast, she details how there are only elderly people here aside from Wu. At the beginning, she was trapped in her home and could barely live with the food she had. With no one else, and no light, the quiet and silent world scared her. At that time, she clearly understood something more terrifying than the end of the world, loneliness. When Wu found her, she feels it was like being born again.
Story[]
Qian Nuowan is quarrelling with his partner for having an affair as Senyu enters with room service. When his partner flirts with Senyu, in response, after saying he would rather go out with him than her, Nuowan kisses Senyu. At once a rumbling sound signals a colossal explosion. Waking up, Nuowan finds Senyu nearby who shares his name. Revealing that Nuowan has been unconscious for three days and nights, he sees their ruined surroundings. When Nuowan asks what happened here, Senyu replies probably the end of the world. Having checked, Senyu feels nothing electronic seems to work, the Internet included. Speaking how this area is still geologically unstable, Senyu details there has been periodic earthquakes, and the explosions and fires only started to subside today. While Nuowan reflects on how he should be enjoying an extravagant lifestyle, Senyu presses him to eat and listen to him if he wants to survive.
Needing to think about where they can search for supplies tomorrow, Nuowan becomes tearful at being unable to enjoy simply pleasures. In response, Senyu kisses him, only for Nuowan to run away. Where they are on the tenth floor, Senyu prevents Nuowan from falling off the building. In speaking how he is scared, Nuowan mentions how everything in his life has been handed to him. As Nuowan wonders what is the point of keeping someone like him alive, Senyu recalls his solitary past. In response, Senyu says for him and Nuowan to continue living, even at the end of the world. With the sun rising, Nuowan feels assured he can find a new reason to live, never mind that it is really is the end of humanity.
One year later, to avoid the airborne debris from the explosion, Nuowan and Senyu travel between the city and the countryside. The surviving animals, including rabbits and sheep, forage for food nearby. Dressed the part, Nuowan and Senyu are living like savages.[1] After the apocalypse, Nuowan and Senyu scoured the ruined city and forests for useable supplies. With Nuowan being chased naked, by a bear, Senyu uses a spear to defend him. Naked since he was bathing, when Nuowan says he is unable to stand, Senyu carries him on his back. At their camp site, Senyu requests that Nuowan help him cover the rest of the meat in honey since that can help keep it. Finding him sleeping, Senyu considers how he has kept Nuowan well over the year, before regarding him as a hamster prince.
Having woken, Nuowan has found a rabbit. Feeling that Senyu is keeping a secret, he has learned of evidence that there are more humans. With human footprints West of here that are new, Senyu does not think he is wrong. While Nuowan thinks it is great, Senyu states they are not going. Wary that a rescue team would have come long ago, Senyu wonders why they are only coming now if they are that. Dismissing the vulnerableness to being pillaged as being something out of a movie, Nuowan insists on going, where Senyu feels staying here is the safest thing to do. Feeling he is being treated as a substitute woman after being kissed, Nuowan heads on his way. While considering maybe they could search for survivors, Senyu does not want to change how he has been living with Nuowan.
On the road in the heat, Nuowan finds he is running out of water. Resting, while considering Senyu, he is approached. Captured by a group of three men, Nuowan's speech on how they should value one another more given the world's end lead nowhere. Considering they may not even speak Chinese, at having them on him, Nuowan envisions girls who he knows secretly liked him, and Senyu. Arriving, Senyu had went West and didn't see a single person for ages. Where Nuowan had gone in the complete opposite direction by mistake, Senyu had headed there to find him. With the captors attacking, Senyu engages them in fighting, while Nuowan trembles that he cannot walk. Having dealt with them, Senyu unties Nuowan. Having seen bones, it seems the case the kidnappers have resorted to cannibalism.
Escaping the cannibals, Nuowan and Senyu hide within a building where they mean to wait until morning. After Nuowan says sorry for running off when he should have listened to him, Senyu replies he was the one who has been too conceited. Feeling he one-sidedly insisted that Nuowan could not do anything on his own, Senyu blames himself for Nuowan's actions. Hugged, Senyu feels happy to be alive with Nuowan and wants to protect him until the end of the world. While Nuowan is happy in regarding Senyu as his rescue team by himself, he notices both their fast heart-rates. A gun is pointed at Senyu's head, and a man orders him to let go of that boy.[2]
Now cheerful, Zhouqing Wu states Senyu looked homicidal, before enquiring whether they have a camp. While Senyu answers they don't, Nuowan replies they do. After Wu details there are eight others at his camp, Senyu questions why they should believe him, and for all they know he could be another cannibal. Offering Nuowan food in response, Wu enquires about the cannibals as he wants to save them if they are affected by PTSD. There is a retired psychologist back at the camp who Wu thinks can help. In favour of it, Nuowan also considers they could be defenders of humanity. While Senyu answers his hands are full with keeping Nuowan safe, he agrees to help Wu. When heaven is to give a man great responsibility, it must first temper his mind with suffering, so Nuowan feels it seems like he is truly destined to do great things.
With the sun rising, Wu will take them back to his camp today first. Travelling on a cart pulled by Moomoo the ox, Wu questions whether they were looking for books as well. Where the Internet is down, books are relied on for planting a garden, and making tools. After the cart wheel hits a rock, the bump results in Nuowan falling onto Wu. Feeling that Senyu is jealous from his reaction, Nuowan requests his hand to hold. As Wu details how he became less scared living side by side with others, he feels they are living in an era of harmony. After Nuowan asks are they there yet, Senyu notes they are out of water. Having passed the half way mark, Nuowan is burning up with a fever, so Wu stops them off at a bus stop.
Since Nuowan's temperature is too high, the most important thing is getting water. Speaking how Nuowan has always been physically frail, Senyu mentions if they ever walked for half a day, Nuowan would pass out. Having an antipyretic suppository, Senyu administers that before waiting for Nuowan to awaken. With Nuowan's fever subsiding, Wu directs Senyu to place him in the cart, they need to hurry up or they will not arrive before dark. Questioning if they knew one another before the apocalypse, Wu details how he was alone for several weeks. Regarding their relationship, Wu asks whether Nuowan is Senyu's boyfriend. When Senyu denies it, this is overheard by Nuowan who begins crying to himself.[3]
Arriving at the camp, Wu greets an elderly woman who is waiting for them. As Nuowan introduces himself, Senyu mentions they have not agreed to stay yet. Where grandma lives on the first floor, Wu shows Nuowan and Senyu to an apartment that wasn't damaged. Stating of course they need another room, Nuowan tells Senyu he is not staying in one with him. As they bicker, Wu leaves wondering why they are fighting, unaware of his own input factoring into it. Where Nuowan is against him sleeping in the bed, he contemplates how they kissed, before Senyu said they would always be together. Furious, Nuowan considers himself a fool for thinking they were dating.
