Synopsis[]
Ten years ago a close friend of Su Hyeok disappeared without a trace after the tragic death of a classmate. But suddenly he show up again, as if nothing had happened. What secret hides the past?

Eun Haechan[]
Speaking to Hyeok when he was being picked on In one instance Haechan saw that Hyeok had been beaten up and asked if he wanted his help to beat them in turn. Asking why he did not defend himself Haechan asked and heard how Hyeok regarded him as an anglerfish. He was seen beside Hyeok as they looked down to a deceased student below. Seeing him again after some time Haechan took Hyeok's hand and spoke that there is a place he wants to go and will he come with him. Commenting how Hyeok has really grown taller Haechan adds that he is really handsome. Ordering a Latte and an Americano he says both cups should be warm. Heading to their favorite place Haechan thought he had come back to see it but nothing really changed. With Hyeok having written a letter Haechan presses what it is about and how he did not hide anything from him before. Mentioning that Hyeok told him everything Haechan begins to raise when they first kissed. When Hyeok is reluctant to discuss that Haechan asks if he hates him now. Finding his reaction cute Haechan states he missed Hyeok much more than he can imagine.
Ren Su Hyeok[]
He does not defended himself from being physically assaulted and tries to rationalize it. Called aloof like he does not believe in a single person on earth Hyeok replies he does believe in Haechan because he is different. As Hyeok regards a firefly on his hand he continues that when he and Haechan are together his entire world changes and he feels somehow relieved. Some time later waking up in bed Hyeok has been having that dream again, he thought it was all right now. Noting that Park Saemi is here, to himself he thinks how she is an old hag after being struck by her. Thinking of Saemi's words he does agree it is true that if Haechan were alive he could at least show his face. Hyeok wonders where he is and what he is doing. Receiving his letter and informing an elderly woman he calls granny about it, Hyeok details his yearly letter is not from a girlfriend. Receiving photos related to France around his birthday there were no words written on the polaroid photos but looking at them Hyeok feels it is like having a silent conversation and is attracted by this feeling.

Park Saemi[]
Greeting Hyeok in a friendly manner by striking him Saemi announces to others at his work place that she has bought chicken for the brats. With it being her homeland Saemi wants to set up her prosecutor's office here and because it is what Noah wants. Saemi adds that living in the city would get too complicated and Hyeok is here also. Having heard that Hyeok has started going to therapy again there is no way she would not worry. Aware that Haechan was actually that important to him Saemi wonders if he knows that himself. Observing that Hyeok is saying he is fine again Saemi speaks that she has known him since he was a tiny crumb and questions if he thinks she would not know. Ruffling Hyeok's hair Saemi states if he is tired then to say so and encourages him to talk instead of whining by himself.
Noah[]
With Saemi she wants to keep living where they are. Joining her, Noah was absolutely sure she told Saemi not to make eyes at Hyeok. On top of that Saemi also dared to intercept the chicken she bought and used it to pose as a hero. At that point does Noah happily greet Hyeok and is pleased to hear that others enjoyed the chicken.
Granny[]
Seeing that Hyeok has got mail she raises how the sender never misses a year and asks if it from his girlfriend. Telling him to hold on just a minute she means to bring him some side dishes. She says for Hyeok to please not push himself when he is not feeling well. Saying she is so thankful that Hyeok has grown up to be so diligent and kind despite his parents passing, granny adds she has made all his favorites and that eating well will give him strength.
Yoo Heeju[]
As a doctor he provides counselling for Hyeok yet is quite affectionate to him. Mentioning how it is so peaceful here that it is unbearably boring and there is nothing better to do, Heeju offers Hyeok coffee. Glad to hear he is sleeping better Heeju says if Hyeok is having any problems then he should feel free to call him. Happy to speak even if it is not for therapy Heeju is doing it because he wants to and enjoys conversing with him. Noting they have quite a lot of similarities he continues that it is not easy meeting another person like that and wants to become a good friend to him. Heeju adds to Hyeok that he probably cannot win against that friend of his. Before Hyeok leaves Heeju uses the excuse that it is cold outside so buttons up his jacket for him.
Story[]
In his ocean Hyeok says Haechan is like an anglerfish
After Hyeok reflects deeply the time when he and Haechan were younger is recounted. Haechan sits beside Hyeok and asks how his scar is. Hyeok feels at ease around Haechan and replies that he sees him as an anglerfish. One particular memory is how a student died apparently in a cliff fall when Hyeok was 16.[1] Much later Hyeok awakens and is still tormented by guilt and responsibility. There are thoughts that he could let go now but his subconscious is holding on to it all. He is trying to forget even if he does not want to, yet it hurts to remember. At his workplace as Hyeok helps lift boxes others nearby speak how they saw a foreigner downtown. Park Saemi arrives and discusses with Hyeok how she is staying in her hometown with Noah. She raises how if Haechan is alive he could at least show his face. After park consoles Hyeok on how he may be feeling she is joined by Noah herself. After they leave Hyeok wonders where Haechan could be. Haechan is seen underneath the same night sky.[2]
Hyeok seeing Haechan years after his disappearance
Hyeok receives a letter which someone who he calls granny notices. After being handed food related packages by her for himself to enjoy Hyeok hangs up the photograph of an airport he received to add with the other nine images. Meeting Yoo Heeju for counselling, Hyeok notes the time of around half past five and has to leave for work. Walking, Hyeok receives a call to pick up some documents. He feels a gaze and unknown to him there are men in dark suits observing him.[3] Retrieving the documents from a man Hyeok hears that the next time this happens they will change to someone else. Perturbed at the man's further angered reaction at Hyeok noticing and remarking on an injury on his wrist, as he walks Hyeok notices a magazine with Paris and the Eiffel Tower on the cover. Desiring to go there Hyeok considers the mail he received around his birthday that began arriving after the second year Haechan disappeared. Polaroid photos of the Eiffel tower, and then the Arc de Triomphe he received further France related images of the Champs-Élysées and the Unknown Alleys of Montmartre. Spotting him in the crowd and following him to a railroad crossing Hyeok and Haechan make eye contact.[4]
Having asked for time off work Hyeok walks with Haechan to a coffee shop before heading to their favorite place. Haechan finds nothing has changed and Hyeok brings up a letter he wrote. When he is hesitant to speak about it Haechan mentions how Hyeok never kept secrets before and wonders whether he still likes him. Hyeok replies he does.[5]
