The Abyss is a completed manhwa at four chapters within one manhwa season. It is written and illustrated by Eeej. First released in 2021, it has been published in Lezhin. This is the first story to the Lezhin Tied to You anthology campaign, which consist of 8 short stories where they share dark themes, of which this one is a psychological tragedy. The story heavily depicts scenes of rape and violence.
Synopsis[]
His hiding spot was found in an instant, soon he became a prisoner. Despite being tortured for several days, he never revealed the location of the safe house.... however he couldn't stand by and watch his comrades die one by one at the hands of the person who arrived out of nowhere. "It's all burned!" But why...why are you staring at me like that?!"

Kim Sae-eun[]
Stunned that a member of his team has been murdered, Sae-eun breaks his silence held in the face of violence inflicted upon him to tell the captain they do not know anything. Asking to please let him speak, Sae-eun does not mind staying here but requests that the rest of his comrades go instead. Having told him everything, Sae-eun asks the captain why he killed the four members of his team. With his restraints cut, Sae-eun manages to pin the captain to the floor with his hands around his neck but is trembling too much to proceed further, although does form the intent to find the strength. When praised by Raijic for being the units number one sniper, Sae-eun answered the flattery was too much.
Captain[]
Stating to Sae-eun that it is an honour to be in his presence, this captain of armed men around him adds that he has such a lovely face. Although mentioning it is a shame to see him in this state, the more he sees it the more he likes it. Remarking that the man whose fingers he intends to break looks like a rookie, the captain comments too bad. Questioning where the safe house is, without a response the captain speaks he did not expect much anyway. Raising his gun he murders two members of Sae-eun's team. Speaking that shooting one at a time seems like a waste of time, he continues since there is no next time then how about they co-operate. Told everything, the captain replies after murdering them all that even if he sent them back they would die anyway. Revealing that he offered to negotiate a prisoner exchange, but they refused, the captain questions is it not more fair to kill them rather than torturing them only so they keep confessing all over again. Seeing him awake, the captain states he was getting tired of waiting. Keeping Raijic hostage, he threatens to cut his fingers off and remove his teeth. Producing a needle and jabbing Sae-eun with it, he uses that as a further means of torturing the captives.
Guards[]
The guards who interrogates Sae-eun raise the matter of persistence and how they should have an easy talk. Awaiting their captain's arrival, one guard says they are sorry to have made him walk so far. One member informs that he has checked the location of the safe house. Ordered to move out, one member salutes in response.
Raijic[]
Restrained and hearing his fingers are to be broken, Raijic asks Sae-eun to please help him. At some point Raijic affirmed that it was an honor to be able to learn directly from Sae-eun. When it comes to snipers he had heard Sae-eun is number one in the unit, so Raijic wanted to be with him in the field.
Story[]
Kim Sae-eun is told to put the gun down. With it snowing outside, within a building a captain speaks to Kim Sae-eun who has his mouth gagged, then announces for guards around to start breaking his squad member's fingers one at a time until captain spreads his legs.[1] Previously, a guard has Sae-eun beaten before he is tied to a chair. With the captain arriving, Sae-eun's team are brought in where their hands are bound. It has been a few days, where the question is repeated on where is the safe house. After shooting the four members of the team, the captain states a prisoner exchange failed, then stops Sae-eun from biting a capsule.[2]
While Sae-eun's restraints are cut, and he manages to pin the captain he is unable to strangle him due to trembling too much. Resolving to use his strength, Sae-eun is then punched in the stomach. Waking up, Sae-eun finds the captain in a chair near him with Raijic as a hostage.[3] The captain threatens Raijic to have Sae-eun subject himself to assault. A needle is used on Sae-eun before the captain exploits Raijic as well.[4] After Raijic has been murdered, Sae-eun is under the effects of the drug where the captain voices he has a useful play thing.[5]
