Synopsis

An abused child dies, unwanted and unloved, only to wake up in a different world. Now a mute, underfed slave, Ray's new life promises to be just as miserable as the old one until an elf named Drake sees him being beaten in the slave market and buys him on the spot. Before Ray knows what's happening, he finds himself in a lush manor being fed the first warm meal of his life. But is his suffering truly over, or will misfortune continue to plague him in his new home? Can this lonely, love-starved boy finally find happiness in a world where those who aren't loved to vanish into thin air?

Characters

Ray

Physically struck and verbally abused by his father, Ray walked along a freeway thinking he was so hungry. Slipping into the water below Ray wonders if he is going to die like this, but it was a bad life anyway. Feeling he died without ever being loved, Ray wakes up in chains. Having thought dying would be heaven Ray guesses he is starving after death as well and finds that he cannot speak anymore. Wanting to live and taken by Drake he is flabbergasted at being presented food. Suspicious of it though, Ray feels something is going to happen but would prefer dying with a full stomach over an empty one, it is the first time he has had a warm meal. Wondering what Drake's deal is, Ray thinks how he bought him but suddenly gets all nice. Thinking about it, Ray considers it is the first time since he was born that someone was nice to him. With it evident that the food presented to him by Gleallen has been poisoned Ray hurls it off the table. Left outside in the rain Ray thought he had found a place where he could be happy, but everyone is always so mean. Feeling his is going to physically disappear Ray speaks that just once he wanted to be loved. Called cute by Drake, he notes it as the first time someone said that to him.

Drake

Coming across Ray he will not stand for the slaver trader intending to hit him. Saying he will buy this slave and casting the money Drake asks if that is enough. Aware that he cannot talk, Drake deems Ray a poor thing. Drake says starting today Ray is his and takes his hand. Taking Ray to his castle Drake questions if he is not hungry before proceeding to feed Ray. When his little brothers arrive Drake comments how he never sees them anymore. After a doctor check Ray, he assures him there is no need to worry since he is here now. Finding Ray outside Drake says he will bring him back home. After ordering his brothers out, Drake begins to kiss Ray. With what he suspected confirmed Drake knew Ray was not from this world, and there is only one way for him to survive here. Making love is the method and Drake observes Ray's transparency reversing.

Ray's Father

Kicking Ray over he shouts why he never listens then calls him a brat. Striking him with a newspaper while stating how dare Ray look at him like that, he tells him to go die, he is so annoying. Ray's father speaks how there is no way in hell Ray is his kid.

Ray's Mother

Telling Ray's father to stop she says she will take care of the groceries and that Ray does not need to clean up in an attempt to defuse the situation.

Slave Trader

Through some means he acquired Ray as a slave after his entry into the world. Slapping Ray, he tells him to not look so depressed. Beside a stall selling fruit appearing produce he calls to those passing by whether they are interested in a maid; he is very cheap. He adds further that Ray will work without ever complaining. Complaining that no one wants to buy him the slaver trader yanks the chain as he says Rays is just skin and bones and is a defective product at this point. Announcing that he hates that look he sees on Ray's face the slave trader raises the riding crop he is holding. After Drake buys Ray the slave dealer leaves in some hurry.

Drake's Brothers

They are physically smaller than Drake and appear when Ray arrives. They help with feeding Ray and stare at him until he does so. Hearing the commotion between Gleallen and Ray they think to call master. Both are present after Drake rescues Ray.

Gleallen

As a steward he is tasked by Drake to contact a doctor to have them examine Ray and complies. Deciding that master cannot afford to be bothered by a little beggar, Gleallen means to poison Ray's food and kill him. With food prepared Gleallen quite happily encourages his dear guest to please dig in. With his master's precious tableware flung away Gleallen asks how dare he and takes Ray to be punished. Casting him into the Forest of Illusion Gleallen elaborates how someone who does not know this land will never be able to escape. He orders Ray to stay here like a dog and die.

Story

Ray is brought to live with Drake, who are observed by Drake's brothers

Ray's father kicks him and is verbally abusive. After Ray falls into water, he wakes up as a slave, yet is bought from the slave trader chaining him by Drake. Brought to Drake's house, that is more akin to a castle Ray was washed and given clothes, then food. Drake questions why Ray is not eating when he is contemplating his dinner like a starved beast and watches him eat. Drake's two brothers join them and when eating Ray's voice comes through. Glaellen is asked by Drake to call a doctor to have Ray checked over. Other than malnutrition and a few bruises the doctor sees nothing wrong with Ray. Saying it is probably psychometric the doctor states Ray will need to take care of himself.

To stop him fading Drake has to love Ray

Drake needs to go out for a bit. It seems like the rain will be strong tonight so he tells Ray to cover himself or he will get cold. By nightfall Ray searches for the toilets and overhears Gleallen voice an intent to poison his food. Ray is seated at the table and when encouraged to eat by Gleallen he sweeps the dinner away. Drake's brothers hear as Ray is taken by Gleallen and thrown outside in the rain. Gleallen brings him to the Forest of Illusion and the carriage heads away leaving Ray to die. Found by Drake, when Ray is returned home, he starts to become transparent. Aware that Ray is not from this world Drake tells his brothers to leave and holds Ray to have him retain his form.
